That is how it ended.

I am pretty irritated with the pace of the episode. We are to believe, that in the span of a couple of hours, Scully figures out how to reverse something that has been setup over the period of decades.

Well it's really just a flaw in their plan and having a leak.

They knew the solution was to give humans they wanted to protect the alien DNA to make them immune to what everyone else was dealing with. So the vaccine/cure already existed and they were already handing it out to their "chosen" people.

The problem is one of the "chosen" didn't like the plan and was tipped off by an informant on not only what the overall plan was, but on what the cure/vaccine was.

Had she never gotten the info, surely it would have taken her longer, but basically having a mole from the other side tell you the plan and the cure, it really speeds your detective work up.

Now I have no idea how they would mass produce a cure given she was the only source for the DNA.

that was sort of my whole issue with the entire 'mini-season'. Felt like they had a predetermined place they wanted to get to and just shoehorned it into the time given.

Well, we obviously weren't going to leave satisfied with only 6 episodes. Fox has already asked Chris Carter for more, and Duchovney(sp?) is definitely on board.

The episode before last, where they met their kind of dopplegangers...I thought maybe that would be an introduction to a reboot with the new Mulder and Scully, with them going to the originals all the time for help.

I would probably watch that.

Yeah, I'm not an expert in the field of vaccines and DNA sequencing, but the bullshit alarm was going off in my head. I feel like it would take weeks, months, even years to produce that vaccine in quantities sufficient to put a noticeable dent into the planned near extinction event.

Nevermind the implausibility of Scully manufacturing it so quickly herself, as others have mentioned.

I'm sure I've missed something, because I'm only on season 5 from the regular series of X-Files, but how did Old Smokey come to be in charge of everything? Where were all of the other men that was behind this?

And do we know how he came to be in the hospital all burned and stuff? Did that happen in the last season?

My biggest question is that they did years worth of research on subjects, and in this last episode, kinda led us to believe that those that were abducted were the chosen ones. Well, those that were abducted all got that strange sinus cancer when they pulled their chips out.

So if the general populace doesn't have the chips, and Scully gives them a vaccine made from her DNA, won't they get that cancer?

Hah, had my dvr set to record the mini-season from two years ago. It started recording again, and I was like WTF. Almost deleted the episodes, until I saw they were new.

Yah, the last episode was pretty good. Definitely the best episode since they returned.

I honestly wish they would just stick to monsters of the week. The alien conspiracy stuff got so out of hand before the show went off the air. There were two alien races fighting each other, the syndicate that was destroyed, but then maybe not.

And what ever really happened with Mulder's sister? Remember when that was a big part of the show? Then there was so many fake resolutions to that story I don't know which one was real. Maybe she was kidnapped by aliens and lost her memory? Maybe she was kidnapped by the government and cloned? Maybe she was murdered by a serial killer? Maybe Mulder's dad gave her to the aliens as part of some deal? Fuuuuccckkkk me.

the dual murders was the best "monster of the week" since it was the most like old x-files and the first was the best main conspiracy episode but only because it was the only one so far

The reveal was slightly underwhelming, but that was a pretty good mytharc episode. Definitely better than the premiere and anything in Season 10.

Did anyone actually think Skinner died in that vehicle collision? Looked pretty obvious to me that he hit the deck before the SUV had a chance to hit him. And he could fit underneath it no problem.

Scully is pregnant? What? I didn't even get the impression this season that they were romantically involved. Am I forgetting something?

Yes. They hooked up in one of the previous episodes this season.

This entire season just seemed so disjointed, like they might have shown some of the episodes out of order.

I've been rewatching the series. Dear god season 7 is bad. There are a couple monster of the week episode that are good, but the mythology is awful and "all things" is absolutely terrible. I'm considering just quitting right now.

^^idk theze last couple seasons have been BAD bad. I can see why Duchovny wanted out. The writers were just throwing shit at a wall. Certainly feels a lot like LOST where the writers just made up the mythology as they went along and kept going because money machine go brrrrrrrr. X files lasted a lot longer because the real strength of the show was always the monster of the week episodes.
