I don't see her gaining 40 lbs on that frame.

Yeah really...an extra 40lb on that frame would be EXTREMELY difficult. I guess all manner of Russian babushkas pull it off, though.

Also, I thought the main cause of marital dysfunction was money, not sex?

Dude, if I am going to spend 40 or more years with a guy in life time commitment, I think I'd evaluate his sexual ability, personality, mental stability, respect for me, health, and hobbies more than looks.

Looks eventually change. Men get beer guts and go bald, women get asses and rolls and stretch marks and everyone gets wrinkles and dies.

The real question is, can you spend a long long time hanging out with and feeling satisfied with one person?

^^Of course people are going to get less attractive as they get older. I'm sure therealramet understands and is okay with that. But looks do matter at the start of relationships, and a significant weight gain in a short amount of time could indicate a serious problem like depression or that she's not willing to keep herself desirable to him.

Looks are what get you to start a relationship, and unless the weight gain puts a SERIOUS damper on your sex life, or is a health risk, your feelings about her should be more important

i guess it depends on how the extra 40lbs looks

i mean some people carry weight different than others

as we age, as others have said, some weight gain is expected-- especially after children for women

BUT if either person in the relationship has gained weight, for whatever reason, and has the means to lose the weight-- i think its in the best interest of not only the health of the person but for the relationship to get rid of it

now on the other hand, if both people in the relationship don't care, then who cares?

i think its fair to stay in the best health you're able to maintain. fair to not only you but to the

honestly it depends on the people in the relationship. luckily my boyfriend and i have similar views on the issue so it's not going to be a problem

no fatties.

if they gain 40lbs., which is a lot, it would show to me that the person lacks discipline and motivation in their life, i'd have to wonder what they'll be like in the future, as well as their drive in their job, etc.

I'm gonna look good, she better do so too. It's about self-respect. If a woman can justify getting fat to herself, good luck, keep on truckin' babe.

You should care enough to be concerned for her health; you want to live a long and healthy life together.

If all you're worried about is whether or not she'd still be attractive enough to get you sexually excited about her, you're not really ready to think about this kind of relationship, in my opinion.

People's appearances can change for more than just "laziness" reasons (aka, not working out enough or eating right).

Some people can have medical problems that arise that cause their weight to jump (it can be a sign of the onset of a thyroid or hormone problem, or Crohn's disease).

Some people are disfigured in accidents. A car accident could permanently scar your lover's face, a house fire could cause devastating burn damage to you or your girl's looks.

If you love her completely and totally and would love her just as much even if an accident changed her looks, let her know that you love her for who she is inside - and my best guess would be that she'll enjoy maintaining her looks and feeling like the beautiful woman you often tell her she is.

i know that there is a big difference, at least in my mind, between getting busted up in a car crash and simply letting yourself go.

^That tells me that you're more concerned with who she is inside (how she sees herself) than worried about whether or not you'd find her physically attractive/sexually exciting.

My answer would be hell no.

Weight gain is related to a lot of other problems, such as body odor, heart diseases, diabetes, etc. I don't want to be around that shit.

Weight gain is caused by other things I don't want to deal with. Namely not eating right and being lazy.
