so with the final scene after the credits, was the last word Charles? In our showing, it cut abruptly and directly from the word charles to advertisements, which makes me think they swapped over prematurely.

In the whole Magneto vs. Darth Vader argument...
is it me or is everyone forgetting that Darth Vader is like 75% machinery?
Magneto could rip his spine out by blinking his eye.
V He probably could rip the iron out but it wouldn't be enough to hurt you considerably. Now he could rip out all of the iron and condense it into a ball and then just rip you apart with that.

Yeah, I'd give Magneto the edge of Lord Vader for that reason instead of the "iron in the blood" thing.
I mean, the stupid guard had to be injected with extra iron just for magneto to pull it off. Makes me wonder if he could do it without having the extra iron there. 5/27/2006 12:49:38 AM |

I’m glad they didn’t fill it with magic & aliens. They were interesting elements in other renditions of the x-men… but there’s not enough time to fit that in on a movie screen. Juggernaut getting his powers by being a mutant rather than being through a mystic stone or whatever it originally was makes a lot more sense to a movie audience. There is such a large plethora of great characters in the x-men universe (and everyone seems to have wanted their favorites to be shown more) that fitting in magic & aliens into that limited time would have killed the movie. X-men movies are one of the few movies I’ve ever seen in a theater more than once… and I think this one will be no exception.
I’d like to have seen more nightcrawler (he’s my fav, and I collected the nightcrawler comic series & random other issues of comics that feature him)… but everyone wants to see their fav more. Southpoint was packed when I saw it… I think this movie with its cure being ineffective at the end, charles still being alive at the end, and angel set up as a character for a later movie (maybe w/ apoc) suggests that there is a strong likelihood of x4. 5/27/2006 1:57:14 AM |

CGI........................Excellent. Acting....................Ok Story.....................Ok Action....................Excellent Cinematography.......Ok Script.....................Ok
I know it's a movie and it's supposed to be different from the comics. That doesn't bother me. It just seemed that they wanted to put as many different mutants as they could and make an action movie. That's what I saw it for. Batman Begins still pwns comic book movies right now. 5/27/2006 12:01:52 PM |

Also I thought, how is this movie rated so low...I know none of it was particuarly gorey but the body count on this movie was huge, and there were back dimples for half a second to boot.

Magneto was really cool in this movie... i think the next will have mystique (abandoned by mag, but who gets her powers back) going to be apoc's aid. maybe nightcrawler can come back and have some parent/kid stuff there too... but thats less likely. 5/27/2006 1:13:23 PM |

i'm glad they didn't try to save her at the end, wolverine made a big deal about how xavier never let her have "her choice." If they did save her, he'd only contradict himself from the earlier part, instead Jean Grey asked to be killed and he did so.
I'd give it a 6/10. X2 was way way better. All those marines were so intent on using no metal objects then confront magneto in the open next to a giant electrical station that storm uses, a giant metal guard tower, metal lightpoles, etc. Magneto could have used all these while he was mindlessly watching over the "pawns" fight. And what's with the 3 mutants trying to kill the creator of the cure by throwing him off a ledge? Aparently badass thugs like to drag out killings and not use their "gifts" that they're so proud of and instead let gravity do it's work only to have the guy obviously get saved by his fag son. Juggernaut was cool but if I was ever a sinister mutant with a badass power, I'd actualy use it. Apparently they don't have boats in San Francisco so they need to use entire bridges to cross 1000ft bodies of water. 5/27/2006 3:36:37 PM |

I really enjoyed the movie...except for one part...
Did anyone else notice that after magneto lands the bridge, it's broad daylight, and then the next scene he's walking onto the island and it's middle of the night? i thought that was poorly done....other than that, cyclops has been a pansy and i was glad to see him "die"....
i also thought rogue shouldn't have cured herself, i mean, she could have kept her powers and hooked up with Leech and gotten down and dirty all the time 5/27/2006 5:15:28 PM |

I thought it was good... however, i'm going to be more of a critic.. All the parts that were really amazing, I had already seen in the trailers for it and the TV spots. For example, it was obvious Angel was going to escape and how he was going to do it. I guess that is why I shy away from watching too many trailers.
Also, I thought the Golden Gate bridge scene would be more exciting or "useful". Instead, it was just a good excuse to show off some CGI skills, which were not that great anyway, still looked very fake and computer generated. I'm glad Cyclops got axed, b/c as soon as we saw his character in the mansion I said, "oh geez not his whiny ass." Also, it seems like they focused on only a main few x-men, for example Wolverine and Storm, and a couple others. We already know what they can do from the other 2 movies and it was more of the same ol' same ol'. Watching Storm change the weather has gotten old. Big deal...by the time she changes it someone could blast her away. Also, wolverine may be the most popular and all, but he isn't THAT big of a badass. I have a hard time believing it would have been that easy for him to walk up to Phoenix at the end.
And I'm with the person who was disappointed about the mutants not using their powers at the end. They looked like normal people with the x-men were hacking through them. 5/27/2006 5:21:42 PM |
