It's definitely back on. A win tomorrow night means its a real series again.
The win last night gave them the confidence they needed. And it's not, "oh my gosh we only won by two points, this is going to be tough" kind of confidence. The Heat played about 2 quarters worth of good basketball and last night and still came out on top. Their third quarter and half of the 4th quarter was atrocious and their 2nd quarter wasn't that great either.
They are finally learning to play better defense against the Mavs, they are slowly getting better production out of Shaq, and Wade now knows that he can pretty much do whatever he wants against them. If they just get slightly above average performance from the rest of the team, there is a good chance they can take the next two games.
The 2-3-2 format has to be looking really good to the Heat right now.

Oh yeah...I definitely think the Mavs are the better team...but that doesn't mean the series is going to be over in 5. And the Mavs aren't that much better either. Wade makes up for a lot of their deficiencies...and so does Shaq if he can get it going. And much like the Pistons the last two years...the Heat are a good TEAM.
The Heat have played pretty shitty basketball this series except for a couple of quarters. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them take the next two games. It would be tough for them to take a game in Dallas, but not if they go in there with some momentum. 6/14/2006 11:41:30 AM |

i'd love to see a great 7 game series, but i picked the mavs in 5 so im sticking with it
i just think the heat isnt athletic enough if the mavs can hold wade to mostly jumpshots
and the mavs are deeper but last night was a helluva game either way 6/14/2006 11:43:01 AM |

And Wade wouldn't be going off like this if Stackhouse was playing. Devin Harris can't guard Wade.
^ I'm not saying that he sucks. I just don't like the way he plays. Before he got hot, he sucked it up and had over half his points from free throws. (He still has nearly half his free throws from the stripe)

How much will the NBA fine Mark Cuban for his post game comments that he hasn't made yet. I'll go with $100K.
I could def see him getting mad over the Wade foul. There was contact but usually the refs swallow their whistles in that situation.
Howard clearly called timeout. I guess its that Wake Forest education kicking in. 6/19/2006 12:40:19 AM |

hahahahahahaha
the really funny thing is, he did THE EXACT SAME THING his junior year in a game at Maryland the year Maryland won the title. Wake had no timeouts and he called one after getting a defensive rebound with 2 seconds left in a tie game. Maryland got 2 free throws and the ball. 6/19/2006 12:45:55 AM |

Why are people ragging on Josh Howard? It looked like Avery Johnson called a timeout then Howard told the ref to give a timeout.
Why is it that Wade gets away with blatant fouls in the late drives? One where he shoulders the defender to the ground and the next where he blatantly tugs the defender away by the shorts to create his space. 6/19/2006 12:49:00 AM |

Yeah, apparently Avery Johnson was giving the Timeout signal but then was trying to say "2" after it, as in after the second free throw, but its pretty damn stupid to make the motion first because what did happen is always a possibility. ESPN talking about how Avery should have told him that and not made the timeout motion for everyone to see.
His press conference should be interesting.
