^ not large.

My memory commit is only slightly larger than XP's was.

Does anyone have the executable for the Office 2007 beta? I keep trying to download it but I get a 404 when I click the link.

I mean my harddrive is almost full, just wanted to know how much space I needed to free up before I make a new partition. 10g? 15g?

I had like 23 gigs free, now I have something like 16. If you go to the vista site, it will tell you exactly what you need.

Anyone had any problems with the ATi driver installer? Mine keeps pegging my CPU to 100% at different stages of the installation.

I can't clear that much up so wanted to see if it was really that high.

It wants 15 gigs free on the system checks but doesn't use near that much in the install.

^ what he said.

Also, I cannot get my 5.1 speakers to work in WMP11/Vista. I only get 2.1 when playing music, and I get a bunch of distorted sound when playing video files.

Installing the latest vista drivers for the audigy 2zs results in a blue screen of death every time.

^apparently I'm not the only one having this problem.

Creative seems unresponsive to fix the problem because they haven't put out updated vista drivers since November despite numerous problems. I swear I hate creative.

I still have the install file for 5.5 and the dead aim and serial to go with it but it wouldn't work (im assuming it has problems with Vista, because I used it before with no problems)

I kind of want to play around with Vista some, the Address book is handy.

With shipping and everything it was under $10.

Other than the spyware that I think came from AIM, it seems to be a pretty stable beta release.

So this key is good for up to 10 machines. Anyone want to be a pal and let me use theirs. This is for work purposes, I need to see how our programs will work with Vista.

Just make a hotmail account and use that Windows Live login to generate more keys.

Well I was bored today so I reformatted this drive and did not reinstall AIM.
No more pesky spyware that I couldn't get rid of.

Quite annoying how it asks for permission 3 times before it installs software, but that can probably be changed easily.

Dual monitors is kinda buggy. Shutdown is kinda buggy.

IE7 used tons of resources on my laptop.

A good bit of my company's software will not work on it.

Really like the skin and I think the start menu with the way the programs list under the folders will grow on me.

IE7 is taking up 53mb right now with three tabs open. Oh well 4gb of ram I could run 12 more instances of IE and not have to worry.

Go to Control Panel/User Accounts.

Then click on Change Security Settings.

Uncheck the box.

You should be fine.

No it's not. The reason all these companies are having such a hard time with writing drivers for Vista is Microsoft has finally tightened the requirements on driver sets. They've been doing the WHQL program for a while now, but now they have basically blocked non-standard drivers from still being compatible. It should fix a TON of hardware related addressing issues, quite a few of which Creative is famous for causing.

Do you still HAVE to have floppies with IDE drivers on it if not built into windows or can you use a USB thumb drive or cd-rom, etc?

I actually ended up changing XP back to the default for startup and use that more. I really hope the visual effects in the final release are good and that they get some good apps for the sidebar
