Bonzi will be a great pick-up...if he play at the same level he did at the end of last year. I don't like Vince's attitude to much, but when he plays like he did last year - I can't go against him. But I think we need a more diverse college background lol...

Quote : | "Wells makes good impression Bickerstaff: Any offer hinges on Ely's status
Charlotte Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff liked what he heard Thursday from free agent Bonzi Wells.
However, the Bobcats haven't made a contract offer to Wells, a guard-forward, and probably wouldn't until Melvin Ely's status is resolved.
"Our issue first is to work things out for Mel," said Bickerstaff, who's looking into sign-and-trade options for Ely, a restricted free agent. In the alternative, Ely could sign a one-season qualifying offer of about $3 million to stay with the Bobcats.
Wells was in Charlotte on Thursday to speak with the Bobcats' administration and coaching staff.
He had a reputation for being high-maintenance in stays with Portland, Memphis and Sacramento.
"It was a good interview," Bickerstaff said. "We asked tough questions and he fielded them well -- very forthright."
Bickerstaff said Wells was scheduled to visit the Miami Heat on Friday, and has drawn strong interest from the Denver Nuggets." |

So Bonzi signed with the Rockets
and after some sign-and-trade talk with the Warriors and the Suns over Ely, they decided to keep him.
Quote : | "Ely signs one-year, $3 million offer with Bobcats
CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Melvin Ely signed a one-year, $3 million qualifying offer with the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday after turning down offers from Golden State and Phoenix.
Ely, a 6-foot-10 power forward, had until Sunday to accept the Bobcats' offer or work out a sign-and-trade deal with another team. Ely said the Suns were prepared to give him a multiyear deal while the Warriors were offering a one-year contract.
"They both had interest in me. It was a good thing," Ely said "It's happy to be loved, but I didn't feel comfortable making a move. I know Charlotte is home to me, so I came back."
But Ely, who averaged a career-best 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds last season, will face stiff competition for playing time with the Bobcats, who welcome back Emeka Okafor and Sean May from season-ending injuries. The Bobcats also signed Walter Herrmann of Argentina last month, who is expected to play both forward positions.
"Melvin's here. He'll compete and it just makes camp more competitive, which is what we wanted anyway," Bobcats coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff said. "No promises have been made to Melvin about minutes or any of those things."
Ely, acquired by Charlotte in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2004, ended up starting 22 games last season when the Bobcats were hit with numerous injuries on the front line.
"It was a crowd last year and I ended up with time, so God willing I'll come into camp and earn it," Ely said. "I know what I need to do here to get time on the floor."
The move means the Bobcats have 16 players with guaranteed contracts and 15 roster spots available once the regular season begins.
Ely acknowledged he turned down the security of a multiyear contract for the comforts of playing with the Bobcats.
"Hopefully I can play well this year and make Charlotte my permanent home," Ely said. " |

The Charlotte Bobcats ended training camp with a flourish on Sunday night, playing an intra-squad scrimmage in front of about 3000 enthusiastic fans, including Bobcats Managing Member of Basketball Operations and part-owner Michael Jordan. The white team defeated the black team 70-57 in a shortened game with four 10-minute quarters. The roster was evenly divided, as the white team started Gerald Wallace, Primoz Brezec, Brevin Knight, Adam Morrison and Jake Voskuhl, while the black team started Matt Carroll, Raymond Felton, Bernard Robinson, Sean May and Emeka Okafor.
The team and the fans had a scare late in the second quarter, as May, who missed 59 games last season because of injury, hit the court hard and was down for about a minute. Wallace’s elbow hit the spot above his left eye, and the gash required eight stitches." |
Looks like we are doing a good job sharing the ball, and we should have plenty of big men to last us the season... 10/9/2006 10:26:56 AM |

They need to take Sean May out of that picture and put Gerald Wallace in.
BTW, are they gonna move Wallace to the 2 or put Morrison there, because Morrison is a 2 in NBA Live, and that seems like a terrible fit.

I think Wallace and Morrison will both be 2/3 on offense, but Wallace will end up guarding the other team's best athlete/scorer on defense
We have a fairly versatile team like that...ie you have Brezec at center and Okafor at PF...bring in May at PF and shift Okafor up to C...etc 10/10/2006 12:14:48 PM |

I would think it depends on the team they are playing
G-force is the best defender hands down and Morrison is arguably the worst so its a no-brainer Wallace will guard the other teams best and as for who starts where, it shouldnt really matter because there is probably going to be a switch on each end of the court anyway if Morrison ends up being a scoring threat... 10/10/2006 11:09:01 PM |

lost by 19 tonight, but they were very short on big men. no primoz, no ely, and okafor might as well have not played. 0 pts, 6 fouls in like 10 minutes. morrison had 19 pts on 7-14 shooting, so a pretty good first game for him. 10/10/2006 11:11:13 PM |

I admit I had to wiki "detlef"
Quote : | "Originally selected eighth overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1985 NBA Draft, Schrempf became a regular after being traded to the Indiana Pacers. During his first few years with the Pacers, he was one of the NBA's best substitutes, winning consecutive NBA Sixth Man Awards in 1990 and 1991. He became known as one of the most effective long-range shooters in the league, finishing second in the NBA with a .478 three-point percentage in 1987, and eventually worked his way into the starting lineup. In the 1992-93 season, he was selected to the first of his three National Basketball Association All-Star Games." |
Sounds pretty good, If Morrison can be that good I will be happy, although I thought it was a pretty bad pick (basketball wise, I guess marketing wise it is good to pick the goofy white guy with diabetes).10/11/2006 2:00:13 AM |

i remember ol' detlef cause he was on my favorite team back in the day, the sonics. with kemp and payton, it was a solid squad. i think morrison can create his own shot better than detlef, and has more mid range game. 10/11/2006 2:02:55 AM |

Quote : | "Bobcats Drop Preseason Opener to Magic October 10, 2006
Almost any Bobcats fan in attendance at Tuesday’s preseason opener against the Magic at Charlotte Bobcats Arena could tell you that this game was about the things that mattered.
Yes, Charlotte lost the first of its eight preseason games 109-90 to Orlando, but in the end, that didn’t matter.
As Bobcats General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff pointed out, he and his coaching staff won’t even start preparing for their opponents until the fifth game of the preseason. These first few practice games are about seeing what the Bobcats have got – who is able to take, make and create shots; who is going to crash the boards; who will find the open man; and who wants the ball in their hands.
Bickerstaff, the Bobcats and their fans all got a glimpse of things to come on Tuesday and had to like some of the things they saw.
With Primoz Brezec sidelined with a stomach virus and Melvin Ely nursing a left knee strain, Charlotte ran out a starting lineup consisting of Brevin Knight, Raymond Felton, Gerald Wallace, Sean May and Emeka Okafor. It marked the first time since December 20, 2005 in Chicago that May saw action in an NBA game, and the first time since January 10, 2006 against Houston that Okafor donned a Bobcats uniform.
That mattered.
It was just the second time in their brief, two-year NBA careers that former Tar Heel teammates Felton and May started side-by-side as NBA teammates, and the first time ever that Charlotte started three national champions in its starting lineup.
That mattered, and in time will matter even more.
As for their stats, May finished with 13 points on 5-11 shooting, seven rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes. He showed no ill effects of the two knee surgeries that sidelined him a year ago, banging inside against Dwight Howard, Pat Garrity and Darko Milicic to the tune of five fouls, but still showed the soft touch from the outside he displayed in summer camp.
That matters.
Okafor didn’t have as much success on the stat sheet, scoring no points and bringing down three rebounds in just nine minutes of play after fouling out with 10:22 remaining in the fourth quarter.
That didn’t matter. What mattered was the 2004-05 Rookie of the Year took the court healthy and left healthy. Everything else will start to fall into place soon.
Tuesday also marked the debut of the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, Adam Morrison, and he did not disappoint. He entered the contest to a rousing ovation at the 4:16 mark of the first quarter with the Bobcats trailing 22-16 and connected on the first shot of his NBA career to tie the score 22-22 one minute and 16 seconds later.
Morrison continued to pour it on offensively in the first half, including a highlight-reel three-pointer at the end of the first quarter in which he caught a baseball pass the length of the court from Jake Voskuhl with three seconds remaining, spun to his right and drained the trey over Kasib Powell as time expired. He followed up with another three over Powell from the right side to start the second as the 24-second clock expired, giving Charlotte a 33-26 lead.
Morrison ended the first half with 16 points on 7-10 shooting, including a perfect 2-2 from beyond the arc in 14 minutes. He finished with a game-high 19 points while showing the confidence of a veteran who will demand the ball at crunch time.
That matters.
As did so much more.
Wallace continued to display the energy and enthusiasm that earned him the nickname “G-Force” from Bobcats fans last season, totaling 14 points and two rebounds while showing he too has extended his range from the field, connecting on a handful of mid-range jumpers.
Felton picked up his game at the point when Knight went down with a sprained ankle early in the first quarter. He attacked the basket and didn’t seem to lose a step from the form that earned him back-to-back-to-back Rookie of the Month awards to close the 2005-06 season. He closed the contest with 16 points, five assists and three rebounds in 23 minutes.
In the end, the Bobcats came out on the losing end of this one, as they struggled to find an answer for Dwight Howard’s dominance inside (18 points and 10 rebounds), and Charlotte’s reserves just could not keep up with the Magic in the second half.
But with seven preseason games remaining and 22 days to go until the regular season opener against Indiana, results don’t matter yet.
Charlotte will still be riding a four-game, regular-season winning streak when the Pacers come to town at 7 p.m. on November 1. Improving each step of the way so they can keep that streak going is what really matters." |

Well Okafor looks like a fucking bust to me. It sucks that we coudlnt get Dwight Howard and passed up on Shaun Livingston who looks like a fucking baller.
Morrison so far not too bad... i think he'll be a good complimentary player for sure and it remains to be seen if he'll ever become a top notch scorer...
Felton is coming along and if he improves his shooting he could be one of the top PG's in the league in a few years...
Its pretty scary that we lost to the Bucks without basically three of their best players (Bogut, Williams, and Simmons). A lot of people were predicting us to be better this year but I'm thinking we're looking at a 30-52 record.
I really dont care for Vince Carter he's getting old and as fragile as he's been over his career he could fall off with a quickness. At the same time he's a very special talent and we desperately need a scorer.
