OEP claimed that it's america's support for israel why we get terrorist bombed all the time. He asked why people never messed with Sweden or Switzerland. Then someone posted a long list of attacks against western countries where terrorists have struck.

They hate who we are, not what we do. Why else did the swiss airline get hijacked? We're not muslim. And they have a problem with that.

Sweeden has never been attacked. Austria has not been attacked (sure Carlos the Jackal bombed OPEC which is headquartered there, but he isn't muslim so this is not pertinent). Yes, a Swiss Air flight had been bombed, but that can be seen more so as an attack on Israel. Just because the plane was flying out of Switzerland does not mean it was Swiss. The passengers were Jewish going to Israel to spend money. Therefore, making it a non-Swiss target and an Israeli target.


The statement about Iraq harboring terrorists...flatly wrong. There were no terrorists in Iraq until we took out Saddam.

The terrorist attacks in the Phillipines are not carried otu becasue of Israel or some other national cause. The Muslims in the Phillipines want to create a Muslim state on the Islands they control.

The Muslims fighting against Russia in Chechnya want a free state and not want to be part of Russia.

Maybe we wouldn't be dealing with terrorism if we hadn't gotten involved in the Middle East, but until we get that pesky time-travel machine working, we have to live in the world of actuality.

They hate our way of life and our countries policies. Some of our policies can be changed, but others cannot. The whole idea that we should leave other countries alone is outdated. If there are human rights violations in other countries (like the Taliban was perpetuating) we have to deal with them. If it also means we have to make part of our budget used to protect us against terrorism, then I still think its worth it.
