It sounds like many have had miserable relationships with their ex's due to their infedelity/lack of trust/or just being plain psycho. I was fortunate enough to have found someone who was great girlfriend material and it did not work. It just seems difficult to believe that so few have had amicable break ups. I will assume that you did not love the other person, or the relationships were immature and meaningless.

i pasted a blog entry i wrote on upgrades over a year ago

its LOL funny if you knew me irl

which hardly anyone on here does

Has anyone ever got back together with their ex? I just got out of a relationship, mainly because she graduates this semester, and I was wondering how often people get back together with their exs'

why would you break up with someone because they are graduating?

no, she broke up with me, before the summer she wanted to stay in raleigh when she graduated. She changed her mind and felt she needed to be single now to become more independent/see the world/live on her own.

whoopdeedoo

that's my opinion of that form of 'reason'

sorry but 1 - you can't define yourself or sense of self based on your relationships with other and 2 - you can't expect cutting yourself off from people will help you 'find yourself'

fuck, i 'found myself' when i was 13 fucking years old.... I know exactly who I am and what I need to improve on and what I'm open to changing.

I know I'm more independent than just about anyone realizes, but just because you don't need someone doesn't mean you keep them at a distance.

relationships can help alter your perspective on things, get out of one if you are miserable or otherwise abused, if you're not either then deal with it, life isn't all happyness and NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY....

i have to go to my meeting now but I'll be back....

Why the hell would you want an ex back?

Didn't you break up for some reason?

Jesus, people. Grow some spines.

So you're telling me that you've never ever regreted breaking up with a person. Or realized that your love for them outweighed the reason you broke up. You just forge on ahead not thinking about the mistakes you or your ex made. Sounds like someone is gonna die alone.

and after a very satisfying lunch, i can answer that evermag, usually it's b/c the reason that they broke up was relatively petty or inconsequential in scope or meaning. or they are the ones that fucked up or didn't particularly want to end it.

that said, you do need to move on after a break up. most of the time if you are on the receiving end you have to quickly come to the realization that they broke up with you for a reason. So instead of pining away for someone that doesn't particularly want you, you'd be better off getting out there and attempting to find someone new (prefferably better).

some couples go through a break up - try new people - realise that the new people suck - get back together routine. unless they have completely crushed you or you no longer have intrest in them then by all means persue getting back together if the other is amiable to it.

^^ No, I really haven't. I've had three fairly amicable breakups. We just realized we weren't right for each other. Sometimes that's all a breakup is. I never "fucked up" a relationship by doing something stupid, so no, I can't really say regretted breaking up with someone.

i don't want any of mine back. i didn't seriously want any of them to begin with, for that matter (which is kind of unfortunate...i've never gotten to date anyone that i really, REALLY liked and had more than a casual interest in)

. i'm not on bad terms with any of them--i'm either friends with them, or just have no contact with them at all (but not because of any bad terms).

Things fell apart cause she's interested in someone else- there's really no way around it.

When a girl says she needs time to "find herself"/"see the world" there's another cock in the hen house. I thought this was common knowledge.

The fact that your ex, is involved with someone right now shouldn't bother you. Especially if you're seeing someone right now. She's doing the exact same thing that you are doing. Still sucks to think about it though.

Well when you compare every new girl you meet to the ex you can't get over, like The Cricket, it's hard to view any other girl as anything but a "downgrade".

Sorry pal, you shouldn't have done that and now she's off with some other guy who doesn't want to break it off with her. What did you learn?

Besides, it is irrevelant who called it off. You want her back and she doesn't want you back. It's time to get over it.

^ reminds me of the baseball scene in family guy where stewie trades a foul ball for a commemorative bat, then procedes to beat the other child with the bat and takes the ball back and says "now what did you learn"

Neither you or I know that, Pal. I have not spoken to her about getting back together. Just because I want her back, doest not mean that I will act on it. Basically what I'm saying is that I had a good thing and I fucked up.

Most of these people probably did...that's why it was a bad breakup. Usually one person likes/loves the other person more than the other, therefore one person is hurt more than the other.

As far as the topic goes...I don't think I would want any of my exes back. My first ex would still be an okay girlfriend. She's finally gotten back to the weight she was at during our relationship so she's looking hot again. But I definitely don't have that "feeling" that I use to have for her. And I thank God everyday that I didn't keep it going with my last ex. It was one of those long-term relationships where I only got to see one side of her. The other side of her sucked major ass and gave light to a lot of of the little things that bothered me about her.

There have been one or two "girls that got away" that I could have/should have dated but I didn't feel like putting forth the effort...but nobody I cry about to this day. I'm living in Charleston where beautiful women are overflowing. It would take a perfect woman to even think about holding me down right now.
