the articles linked in that blog show evidence of people knowing he was gay before recently. but that's hardly news.

one of the blogs said that a neighbor posted that he had entertained men "that looked close to underage"

that's hardly keeping a lid on pedophelia for 1-3 years and then releasing it when it's convenient.

the gay community was pretty pissed at foley because he voted for the defense of marriage act (among other things) that they felt hurt the gay community.

Hey, I wasn't trying to say that blog was any sort of "evidence" of anything. All I said was it might have been referring to the same reference pwrstrk heard.

I really am tired of people confusing IM and Email when they talk about this whole thing. Its like they've all gone retarded.

The emails that were known about were creepy, but I haven't heard anyone say they were sexually explicit or implied any kind of actual wrongdoing.
The IMs are the death knell here, but if House Leadership didn't know about them until now, they really can't be held at fault for this. Of course they will be, because its so close to the elections.

But the FBI DID know about these incidents earlier. They've known since July and have sat on the information. What gives?

You see, the leadership KNEW about some creepy emails. They didn't know about the IMs.
So people aren't lying when they say that "Top Republicans KNEW!! about emails" But they are being disingenuous when they then quote from these "emails" when they were not the emails the leadership knew about.

The IMs were where the illegal stuff happened though, not the emails.

Two things: (1) I referenced the legality of Foley's actions in another thread that fucking got locked. Even though what the former congressman did was apparently not illegal, it was in violation of House ethics rules. And (2) the Democrats are trying to milk the shit out of this thing (play on words intended). It could backfire on them--and that process may have already started.

Amusing part of all this...some people accuse Democrats of knowing and sitting on the information as a political ploy. But accusing the Democrats of that is the actual political ploy.

A Republican got caught doing something really, really wrong. And after all that shit about family values and the time/money they've used trying to establish their party as morally superior and those millions of tax dollars they spent trying to crush Clinton for getting his dick sucked by a grown woman...Republicans feel humiliated. And there really is only one thing for them to do...divorce Foley and lash out at the Democrats for something, anything--it doesn't have to be true. Just say it loud and say it often. Every time Foley's name comes up, mention the Democrats. Attach him to the Democrats.

That's the political ploy in all this.

Something to that effect, although I don't really look at it as "attaching him to the Democrats." I think it's more along the lines of trying to say "Yeah, Foley is a cancer (now that he's caught ), but you filthy Democrats are hardly pristine and pure.

Which is true.

...but it's a weak sauce counter, in my opinion. I guess that's because there isn't much of a real defense to be had.
