the worst part about the bcs is that everybody has to play this pathetic brinkmanship game between playing teams good enough to get them to the NC yet not scheduling any losses. it doesn't just fuck up the NC for 2-3 teams, it fucks up the whole season for every program top to bottom.
that's right, i blame BCS (and the bigger failures it replaced) for bringing us tosu versus bowling green, michigan versus ball state, texas versus rice, and auburn versus buffalo. 11/9/2006 11:50:51 PM |

espn is retarded, if michigan wins in the horseshoe, they would be expected to win on neutral turf... a rematch is more likely if michigan loses, cause they had to play on the road... if you are gonna HINT at a rematch, which i dont think should happen, get the reasoning right 11/10/2006 12:00:12 AM |

If Arkansas beats Tenn, LSU, and UF in the last 4 games and don't go to the MNC over 1 loss Texas or the loser of the UM/OSU game the entire system is even more of a sham. I didn't realize how tough that Arkansas schedule is.
One thing though. Should USC win out (I think Cal blows them out personally) can it be justified to put 1 loss Arkansas over 1 loss SC, since they beat them by 36 so early in the year? Question of the year right there.
I'm rooting for Arkansas and Cal because Arkansas is the 'underdog' and Cal is the team that is playing the best in the country RIGHT NOW.

what would be some bullshit is if UM, who has given ND and Wisconsin their only losses. loses to OSU by 1 or 2 and a shit team like Texas or USC gets in instead
Not to mention Florida is pretty weak 11/11/2006 5:53:13 PM |

my boss is a die hard notre dame fan and thinks they can still make the championship game... no.......... cause you got killed by michigan at home so even if notre dame runs the table they don't get in over a 1 loss michigan (should they lose to osu)... a 1 loss osu team will get in before you too b/c of points... and IF florida runs the table you won't get past them too... phish you disagree? 11/11/2006 10:55:05 PM |

I like how in the USA today poll, rutgers is 8 and wvu is 7, that makes a ton of sense. i don't care if you don't think that they should be that high, or higher, but there is no way that wvu should be put ahead of rutgers at least at this point. 11/12/2006 7:28:28 PM |

The coaches poll BARELY dropped Michigan from 2 (they are 3). They are right behind SC. SC had a harder schedule and will be #1 or 2 in the computers if they win out but my guess is that the Harris will keep Michigan 2 or barely drop them to 3.
There is a good chance UM will be #2 THIS week but will likely get jumped by SC if they win out. If SC loses there is a rematch, rendering the 'game of the century' completely meaningless.

Michigan is #2 in the AP. If they don't finish ahead of USC in the BCS, then split national championship here we come!
^ objectively I'd agree but according to the computers, which is the only thing that really matters, USC's is harder, and will only get harder with ND and UCLA (whom the computers love). I guess you should go out and buy your Irish gear for next weekend!

That isn't what he is really saying. Just simply that if there is a rematch then the game yesterday was essentially meaningless. You can't really argue against that.
If USC wins out it won't matter anyway. They had a hardass ooc schedule and the Pac-10 is decent from top to bottom this year. They would be very deserving. If Michigan does have a rematch, so be it. Though I don't think that is in the best interest of the sport (although it would get people to rethink the BCS perhaps, which would be good).
here are the full rankings btw: http://www.footballfoundation.com/pdf/bcs06/111906l.pdf
** and if you don't think that there are teams out there that can hang with both Michigan and Ohio State then you are biased or fooling yourselves...

While I dont like the idea of a rematch in the title game, if we are comparing simply mich and usc then all I have to do is see who each team lost too and I give the nod to michigan. 11/19/2006 4:54:45 PM |
NyM410 J-E-T-S 50085 Posts user info edit post |
I don't think it's that simple. You have to look at who they beat collectively too.
Michigan has a great win against ND and a quality win against Wiscy. Yes, I do think Wiscy is simply a decent team. They had such an easy schedule. USC would have beaten a great ND team, a great Arkansas team (yes, I realize they weren't at 100% but it was CONVINCING), and also have wins against quality teams like Nebreska and Cal.
I think it will be close. Either way I don't think you can complain (other than the fact that there SHOULD be a playoff).
