Because Delhomme had been playing shitty and the Panthers still had 2 timeouts. RUN the ball in. Don't waste the scoring opportunity. You have a very clutch kicker so you are assured of overtime.12/5/2006 1:42:58 AM |

Any quarterback can throw all over us because we play off them 5 feet and just hope they miss the ball or we tackle them as they catch it. It really doesn't work, but we've played that way for years.
Am I the only one who's sick of Gamble? I haven't been happy with him since that ridiculous stunt he pulled where he basically gave them a touchdown on the kickoff return.
And while I don't hate the fade call, I agree with Quote : | "RUN the ball in. Don't waste the scoring opportunity." |
Williams was all over them and there was no way we couldn't have put the ball in the endzone with a run.

Gamble got burned at least twice for td's last night - fucking sucks on returns and cost the MN game outright.
Bout time for him to be looking elsewhere for employment. I hear TA has an opening in Albemarle. Only 1 hour east of Charlotte Chris. 12/5/2006 8:51:21 AM |

How about throwing some blame the defense's way?
Every time Jake threw one of his three TDs, Philly came right back down and stuck it to us
But yeah, that last pick was inexcusable, seemed like Goings stopped the route on the third one though 12/5/2006 9:40:26 AM |

Panthers pretty much needed to beat the Skins and the Eagles as they both were not at full strength. Both games we should have won if not for Delhomme interceptions in the 4th.
Two situations for Jake, pure & simple:
1) We dont make the playoffs (lookin that way) and the public will cry for his head. 2) He has been the opposite of clutch this year, and his clutch factor is the only reason he has kept his job over the past few years over weinke and we havent tried to find another QB. If a miracle happens and we do make the playoffs, then it will be partly because he woke the fuck up and started throwing better balls in the clutch. That is the only way he keeps his job...
I hope he gets it back, cause I will miss ole' Bojangles Delhomme....

Those people who think that last INT was Jake's fault are retarded. Keyshawn severly miss-timed the jump, and it somehow fell right into Dawkins hands. The ball was right where it had to be. Now the first interception .... bad.
I blame Henning for the play call. Why even thow it? We've got two timeouts, run the damn ball until they stop us. 12/5/2006 12:02:12 PM |

just to throw a little blame the defense's way. on third and >5, the play right before the TD to Reggie Brown, WHY THE FUCK was one of our shitty linebackers covering Westbrook?
reminds me of the atlanta game, where we CONSTANTLY didn't cover Crumpler on 3rd down despite everyone knowing Vick always tries to throw it to him on pass plays.

You have proof that Goings ran the wrong route? The ball sailed badly.Even if Goings was in the vicinity, the ball might have been intercepted.
My bad on the Dawkins/Sheppard. I was at a bar and turned and left right after the pick was thrown.

we should have just ran the ball. there is absolutly no excuse for us losing that game at the end of the 4th. if nothing else we tie it up w/ a FG and take our chances in OT. i would much rather have watched us lose in OT then to see jake fuck shit up again 12/5/2006 3:27:35 PM |

football is not cut and dry, different situations call for different things.
Williams had been on fire, the eagles have given up 200 rushing yards in the past couple games, 2 timeouts on the 7 yard line, etc. 12/5/2006 4:40:42 PM |

i'm as big a panther fan as any but Delhomme just sucks ass.
since before last year i've been saying he just throws the ball up in hopes that a receiver will make an outstanding catch, which pretty much held true yesterday. the thing that best outlined this was the play Keyshawn got hurt a lil bit on, he was wide open without a defender within 5 or so yards and jake threw it four feet over his head so he had to jump and fall down, therefore getting no YAC.
and jake had no bullshit "throwing where the defender can't get it" argument for this play, because Key was wide open and would have likely had MANY yards after the catch if not a TD with his momentum

well i'm sure depending on the season, we will look at other QBs
but theres a difference in acknowledging Jake is not Peyton, and thinking CHRIS WEINKE is the solution to all our problems
Chris "1-15" Weinke

putting weinke in for a little while wouldn't be such a bad idea, if only for the simple reason of trying to light a fire under delhomme
^if you think that's the only time jake has made a wild throw where a receiver had to make a crazy good catch to bail jake out, you have never seen a Carolina Panthers' football game.

Chris Weinke never went 1-15.
He got injured and Matt Lytle started in our loss against the STL Rams.
Besides, that team was void of talent at nearly every position.
Weinke looked great in his one chance to shine against Detroit last season.
I'm not advocating benching Delhomme. The coaches see them practice everyday, if they say Delhomme gives us a better chance to win than Weinke then I believe them.
I'm just saying Delhomme needs to start playing better right this fucking minute.
I'm fed up with not having a pass catching TE too. I dont care what the fucking coaches say I am really fed up with this garbage. We need to implement one. We CAN NOT RUN THE GODDAM BALL.
We have deep threats, we have possesion receivers... there should be plenty of space for a pass catching TE to operate. Get one, seriously. 12/5/2006 4:54:55 PM |
