Kobe is on fire.
He's hit his last 11 shots in a row, ties franchise record for pts in a quarter at 30 (which he also holds), and has 50+ at the end of the 3rd. 12/1/2006 12:48:01 AM |

Why are people surprise that Ben Wallace didn't make the Bulls better. Seemed like the dumbest signing ever to me. They were the best defensive team in the league, they added a good defender, they needed post scoring. Wallace has no offense. Just didn't make sense. and why did they give JR Smith away for a loaf of bread? 12/1/2006 1:59:01 AM |

I just don't think he was THAT much better than Chandler. He's a great defender and rebounder but not a difference maker. I don't think he makes them worse. He just costs a whole lot to make them the same. Is he going to be worth 14 mill a year when he is 36? with his 40% free throw percentage 12/1/2006 2:11:48 AM |

I wasn't. Ben Wallace is on the decline as far as his career goes. He's still a great defender, but not the dominating one he once was. And he adds NOTHING to the offense. Tyson Chandler was a pretty decent offensive player and he still had room to get better. Now Chicago has no offense down low...and they don't have enough offense in the rest of the team to make up for that.
Bad pick-up IMO.12/1/2006 9:33:02 AM |

Barkley said that Ben Wallace was more of a complimentary player, and I think he's right. Now, if he averaged 20, 15, and 5 blks a game, THEN he would be a star. 12/1/2006 10:08:59 AM |

For all of you Julius Hodge fans out there, and I know there will be a thread about this because someone won't read this post, and decide to make another thread about this, here is some recent news on JULIUS HODGE...
Quote : | "Nuggets guard Julius Hodge, who hasn't played this season because of a left foot infection, visited a doctor and was cleared to resume practice. George But Karl said Hodge, who did not travel to Minnesota, needs plenty of practice before getting game action. "Six months," Karl said half seriously about how much time is needed." |

Anyway, how about that Suns-Nets pick-up game last night? Scoring everywhere. 161-157. 2 OT. Nash had 42, and he hit a three in the 4th to send it to the first overtime.
Pistons over Mavs. Heat over Kings in OT.

Anyone think Caron Butler will make the All Star game this year? I don't really think so but I do think he deserves a bit more attention leaguewide. He has been pretty consistent all year and filled up the boxscore again tonight. He is one of the most underrated players in the league in my biased opinion.
Also... solid game from JJ Redick tonight! He won't be in this league after this year....

Caron has been terrific this season.
I'm really starting to think that the Heat could have won a championship with D-Wade, Caron, and Odom as centerpieces if they made veteran additions.
They might have broken up a young nucleus that would have been competitive for years with that Shaq deal.
I cant blame them i woulda done the same damn thing but in retrospect that deal doesnt look that great. 12/14/2006 12:17:37 AM |

Yeah, I was and wasn't surprised the Bobcats showed up. First, they were playing the Magic, one of the few East teams with a winning record. Second, it was national TV. So, it is what it is. Plus, Manu actually looked healthy last night in the Spurs win & B-Davis hit the game winner as the Warriors beat the Rockets.
Anyway, the Bobcats frustrate me b/c they can beat the good teams on certain nights, but not the bad ones. 12/15/2006 11:43:28 AM |

Battier plays defense like a mad man though.
It has been refreshing to see two finger waves after big swats from Dikembe...I'm sure it will be on Sportscenter.
Now Kobe is hitting ridiculous shots over great defense...Yao looks great and I LOVE the retro lighting that LA uses now where only the court is lit...hot...very hot.

Quote : | "Suspensions total 47 games from Knicks-Nuggets fight
ESPN.com news services
NEW YORK -- The Denver Nuggets were the bigger losers Monday after the NBA handed out penalties in the fight that broke out near the end of Saturday night's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Denver's Carmelo Anthony, the NBA's leading scorer, was suspended 15 games for sucker-punching the Knicks' Mardy Collins. Denver teammate J.R. Smith and New York's Nate Robinson also received the stiffest of penalties issued by the league -- 10-game suspensions.
But there was no separate penalty for Knicks coach Isiah Thomas, who had warned Anthony not to go into the lane before the mayhem started Saturday night.
Both franchises were fined $500,000.
"It is our obligation to take the strongest possible steps to avoid such failures in the future and to make a statement to all who follow the game of basketball that we understand our obligations and take them seriously," NBA commissioner David Stern said in a statement.
Collins, whose hard foul of Smith was the flashpoint for the fight, was suspended for six games. Knicks forward Jared Jeffries was suspended for four games, and New York's Jerome James and Denver's Nene were hit with one-game penalties for leaving their respective benches during an on-court altercation.
The NBA is still trying to repair its image after the brawl between Indiana Pacers players and Detroit Pistons fans two years ago.
" |
Man, Melo getting suspended for almost a month is definitely going to hurt the Nuggets. I think this was justified, but I think Marty Collins should have gotten punished more than six games.
Oh yeah, Gilbert Arenas got 60 pts. last night vs. the Lakers and very little care.
