we look like a good team for we have to work with...
the only thing we need to work on is FINISHING the game with the same intensity that we have earlier on.
that was the only thing stopping us from winning by 50, cuz we were up by 29 with about 7 minutes left.
anyways, i like what i see and Gavin really looks like he knows what hes doing 11/21/2006 9:40:09 PM |

he limped to the locker room right before the second half started
i think he might have strained himself by not going for that rebound in the first half where he was the closer man to the ball and just let it go out of bounds 11/21/2006 10:08:41 PM |

i'll have 2 hours worth when its online and i'll try to get highlights for this
-
second intro video, sorry but the since of the 'flashy' graphics and whatnot it looks like pure shit.. it might look a little better here: http://video.ncsu1.info/video.php?v=highlightintro.wmv
-
who was the guy in front of me who yelled fire chuck with about 30 seconds left in the game?
-
and why does it sound like on the radio they have stopped saying RBC Center and just the arena in raleigh? (did anyone that listened to most of the game hear if this was the case)?
--
ATTN GUY BEHIND ME: WE DONT NEED TO KNOW THAT EVERY SHOT IS GOING IN, OR THAT EVERY SHOT THE OTHER TEAM MAKES IT LUCKY. WE ALSO DO NOT NEED TO SCREAM AIRBALL THE WHOLE GAME WHEN WE ARE WINNING BY 20-25 POINTS, ESPECIALLY AT THE WRONG PEOPLE. PLEASE STFU. TY.

it looks like might have trouble stopping big men in the paint due to our lack of size...but i thought the team looked much better than people are expecting

Agreed. That is the main problem that has been consistent throughout the games. This fast-paced offence is great, but given our depth, many of the players start to get worn down and tired into the second half, which is reflected by the comebacks that the other teams have toward the ends of the game because our defense is getting sloppy or breaking down. I think if our players can get their endurance up so that they have their legs under them all 40 minutes of the game, we could become a force to be reckoned with.
----
^^^^ Yeah that is a pretty cool video to see at the arena, but I think unfortunately to smoothly capture all of that speed you're gonna need to up the bitrate some and sacrifice file size, because it was stuttery as shit throughout most of the flashy highlights....

^ not to burst your bubble but until late second half Valparaiso shot like shit, I mean these guys were missing layups, missing short range jumpers, and missing threes all over the place. Of course credit goes to our defense but the game would have been a lot closer if Val wasn't so ice cold. On a side note, did anybody else notice how every player on their team had really weird foreign names?

I was next to a guy who thought he knew a player... so everytime "C. Fells" got the ball him and his friends nutted all over each other... and all the people around kept saying the most lame things I have ever heard... "Fells broke your face... blah blah blah." It was kind of embarrassing... If you are going to yell loud as hell when it is quiet -- say something funny... I hope this kid was drinking....

all kinds of praise in the N & Blow
http://www.newsobserver.com/752/story/513428.html
Quote : | "Grant leads charge Pack hears Lowe, turns up the heat Chip Alexander, Staff Writer RALEIGH - N.C. State's Gavin Grant knew what was coming. So did the Pack's Brandon Costner. "The usual rip," Grant said.
With a little more than seven minutes left in the first half of State's game against Valparaiso, the Crusaders led 27-26 after driving dunk by Urule Igbavboa and Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe quickly signaled for a timeout. Not that he needed to say much to his team.
"We knew what we had to do or there would be [heck] to pay at halftime," Grant said, smiling. "We had to play good defense."
The Wolfpack did just that, holding Valpo scoreless for 13 straight possessions after the timeout while reeling off 15 unanswered points. State was on its way to a 78-64 victory Tuesday at the RBC Center, getting 25 points and 12 rebounds from Grant -- both career highs for the 6-foot-7 junior -- to give Lowe his third win in his first season.
How overwhelming was the Pack after Lowe's brief lecture? State (3-0), which led 41-29 at halftime, then scored the first 10 points of the second half to finish off a 25-2 run, holding the Crusaders (3-1) without a field goal for more than 11 minutes.
The man on the other bench, Valparaiso coach Homer Drew, came away impressed -- by Lowe's timeout, by the way State responded after it and by the play of the Wolfpack, in general.
"They took control of the game after that," Drew said. "We couldn't buy a basket. We lost some patience, and it became too big a hill for us to climb.
"They really locked down with their defense. They may be 6-6 or 6-7, but they play 6-9 with those long wingspans."
The Pack, which ran the floor well on Friday in a 20-point win over Delaware State, looked to do more of the same against Valpo. Grant again had a few transition slams to juice up a sparse crowd of 9,613, while Costner (17 points), Courtney Fells (13) and senior Engin Atsur (9) also picked up fast-break scores after coming up with steals.
"The difference in the game was the transition," said Drew, who is now in his 18th season at Valpo. "They're long, they got their hands on balls and they were gone.
"They got some easy layups and dunks, which gave them the emotion and energy. Their play in transition was our demise."
But the Pack also was efficient enough in its halfcourt offense, moving the ball crisply and finding the open man.
Early in the second half, Atsur found center Ben McCauley open under the basket and McCauley zipped a pass to Costner, who drilled a 3-pointer from the right wing.
Grant followed that up with a nifty drive, using a ball-fake to freeze the defense, then knocked down a 3 from the wing.
"Sidney's done a very good job in a short period of time," Drew said. "They play well together. They share the basketball and are unselfish.
"Their offense is beautifully spaced. They spread us out and used their athleticism and quickness to get into the lane and dish it out or get to the rim."
Grant did a little of everything for the Pack after playing what he said were "two average games" to begin the season. He had 15 points and six rebounds in the opener against Wofford, then 12 points and zero boards in the Delaware State game.
"No rebounds," he said. "That hit me in the head."
Grant seems perfectly suited for that he calls Lowe's "free-flowing" offense. He can handle the ball at the point, drive the lane for jumpers, post up and is capable enough from the 3-point line.
"For a guy like me, who's 6-8, it's a dream offense," Grant said.
After three games, the Pack and its new coach are getting a better feel for each other. In each game, Grant said, there has come a moment when Lowe went into the huddle for a few stern words.
"The first game, it was like, 'Whoa,' " Grant said. "Now, we know what to expect."
"They know I'm going to push them because I believe they can get it done," Lowe said. "We didn't give them anything easy."
Mainly what Lowe will demand is attention to defense. The Crusaders missed 22 of 31 shots from the field in the first half and closed at 36.7 percent from the field only after a flurry of baskets at the end after trailing by as many as 29 points.
Igbavboa, a 6-8 sophomore who was averaging 17 points a game, finished with 10 points on 4-for-14 shooting. After his big first-half dunk, he did not score again for more than 14 minutes.
Lowe said after the game that freshman center Bartosz Lewandowski had suffered a knee sprain and would be "out for a while."
"The question with N.C. State will be depth," Drew said. "Can they not get injuries or get in foul trouble? But Sidney has done a very good job with this team."

You know, I'm not really sure where some people or coming from when they say things like that (before the edit that Lokken did). I honestly don't remember losing to a single crap school the entire time I was here (from '99 on) or shortly after I graduated. It's not like it's a big deal we're beating these shit schools. We are supposed to. In fact the only game the past 7 years I remember against a bad non-Power 6 conf. school was the UNC-G game where Grundy hit the game winner at the horn.

Valpo WAS a tourney team. They lost their Top 5 scorers from last year and aren't supposed to be that good this year from what I understand. Wofford seems to be good. Don't get me wrong I'm trilled that we're taking care of business, but it's not like it's out of the ordinary for our program. 11/22/2006 4:13:43 PM |

it's not that we're thrilled to be beating valpo, but we're excited about the offense that we're running not being of the princeton flavor.

^ That and the fact that after losing 4 of our 5 starters last year, and while getting a totally new coach and play style, we still are winning the early games that we should be, and that our young shallow team is getting better every game. Not to mention that these games are actually fun to watch and the play style leads to lots of excitement and showtime jams.
