So, who say The Power Block on spike this weekend.
A company is putting an LS7 in these and putting out over 500hp. That would be a mean machine. 2/14/2007 6:12:22 AM |

Not everyone has a garage and all the free time in the world to fix up their car. And enough of the automatic bashing. My last 2 cars were manuals and I just wanted a break." |
if you care about options and fuel economy, and want an automatic transmission, what in the hell are you doing with a sports car (or what would be a sports car if it were equipped with a manual trans)?
sounds like you really want a Civic or an Altima or something, but figured you wouldn't look cool enough in one.

still a hot car.
The dodge concept isn't terrible. It's not sexy, but outside of the rear end, it looks pretty damn good. At least the grill matches the rest of the car and the whole dodge car aesthetic.
Where as the Z4 took BMW to a new level of inconsistency. And just FYI, everything on every car was "stolen" from something else. It's called reference. 2/14/2007 8:41:03 PM |

what is it with people thinking sports cars are gay? i had people tell me that an S2000 was a gay/girl car.
i think i've seen maybe 1 or 2 chicks in S2000s, ever (and have yet to see any chick in a Solstice). Hell, you barely even see any chicks in Miatas--they're mostly in Z3s and that little Mercedes thing. 2/15/2007 8:39:08 AM |

guys with rag tops especially in small cars such as teh s2000 and/or a miata can look gay

Because a lot of men are insecure about their sexuality and or endowment. And so they feel some need to compensate for it by either buying something to make up for what they naturally lack.
Generally this is limited to the people who buy such vehicles AND brag about said vehicle incessently.2/15/2007 1:18:12 PM |

haha, you drive a fast convertible and half the people say "that's a gay/girl car", and the other half say "asshole driving a penis car"
i guess if you don't like high performance cars and you have to ask, i can't explain it to you.
good thing i'm such a mushroom cloud layin' motherfucker...i can get away with driving anything but a VW Cabrio or New Beetle, and nobody's gonna think I'm effeminate or gay.
and if he does, i'll just invite him for a ride down a twisty road and not slow down until he's crying.

miata is far from a high performance car... you very rarely see one that is suped up, it is more of the exception than the rule
so yeah when i see a guy driving a miata that is obviously just the base model
FAG!!!!
S2000 are just nice in general so i dont have that disposition when seeing them

stock miatas range from slow to average, depending on the year. they're still a great sports car, though.
as far as a base S2000 compared to a hotrodded Miata, my S2000 made about 360-365 hp, and my Miata would've still smacked it around (with the exception of straight-line speed above, say, 120-130 mph, when it was beginning to run short on gearing). I think my Miata would've taken the prize in any other performance contest...and against a stock S2000, it would've been an absolute slaughter.
the S2000 was much more composed, civilized, and dependable, though. 2/15/2007 5:11:20 PM |

When I drive my girlfriend's Forester I'm always worried people will think I'm the manliest butch dyke they have ever seen. The S2000 doesn't worry me so much. 2/15/2007 5:14:34 PM |

i know a guy putting an STi drivetrain and suspension on a Forester.
his wife made him get something "practical and family oriented" after they had a kid. 2/15/2007 5:17:39 PM |

There was that guy on TWW a couple of years ago that put a STi shortblock in one and turbo'd it.
Then a year later they came out with the turbo model from the factory though, so it was pretty worthless. I saw it for sale on Craigslist a while back. I think he was asking around $12,500.

Pontiac Solstice with Mallett Pitbull Body Kit
Quote : | "Finally, an exclusive body upgrade to match the incredible Mallett LS2/LS7 conversions. Widened a full 4 inches in the front and 5 inches in the rear, the Pitbull package is a 6 piece body conversion that allows the use of ultra-wide wheels and gives a menacing stance to the Solstice.
The specially-designed front fascia improves airflow to the engine and the increased traction of wider tires lets you put more of that V8 power to the ground.
Only a limited number of Pitbull Edition Solstices will be built and will feature signature badging. The fiberglass upgrade is projected to cost $16,000-18,000 fully installed and painted, and will also be available in carbon fiber by special order.
The upgrade is scheduled to debut at SEMA 2007. " |
