Quote : | "no one knew there was gas in it (and that was all the leaked out) because when you get a junker car, THERE ISNT SUPPPOSED TO BE GAS IN IT." |
actually since people had been hitting the engine and broke the valve cover, oil leaked out when the car was upside down.
Why is there not supposed to be gas in a junker car? pretty much every car at a junkyard has gas in it. Maybe there shouldn't be gas in a car that is supposed to be bashed, but you didn't specify that.
And I wouldn't say that he was blowing anything outta proportion considering they were threatening to send everyone home and cancel all the tickets if the people didn't turn themselves in by 11.
^he came up to our group and started talking about where he was from and then was passed out next to one of the tents. My groupmates had been talking to him previously and started walking him back to his group. When they got near Reynolds he just veered off towards the side of the building and passed out next to the air conditioners. So we went to his group to have them take care of him and then the cops came over and they didn't seem to care that he was drunk until he wasn't responsive.

^that's who turned everything out of proportion. yea like they would keep the student section empty on our biggest game of the year in front of a national television audience. that'd look real good for the school. those threats were a joke. 1/27/2007 11:52:47 AM |

No we were telling people one of two things: 1)5(or some other impossible amount) girls were sleeping in there or 2)it's our dogs tent, there's a dog in there.
OH and we were also telling people that this
was the guest house.

whoever gets pissed about the car getting flipped is gay as hell. it IS supposed to be drained of gas when you get it for a car bash idiot. Also i think it was funny they flipped it. This crowd was tame as hell, quiet, they forgot to bring the 83 championship which has been played out there for years, they lost their thing to show the movies on like 3 times. THEN they try to threaten to not give out student tickets....haha thats funny, have the whole place empty? Then the campus police busting people all over the place for drinking when they weren't even making any noise...they just showed up at the tent and put the flashlights on these people. This university and traditions just keeps getting worse and people bitching about the car just eggs it on. 1/27/2007 6:00:35 PM |

I mean I was pretty drunk, and I wasn't really hiding it either, but they never once came and investigated at our tent. 1/27/2007 6:11:57 PM |

I didn't know what Tom Stafford looked like and I thought that it was some sort of magician...haha, then again Mr. Beam was treating me well.
The car thing was funny, I can't believe they actually wrote people up for that...speaking of which, what were they cited with? It's a car to be bashed, they shouldn't have gotten destruction to property or anything along those lines. Possibly something to do with the hazardous situation.
The guy that got taken medically away evidentally stole the bottle of Jack from the guys tent next to us. Funny night. 1/27/2007 6:47:09 PM |

yeah, being in the talley area makes you miss out on a lot of the action. I ran back to my apartment around 12 or so and the cops were raiding this groups' campsite. They were just standing around basically saying "oh shit, what's gonna happen to us".
And campout is definitely something you should do at least once before you graduate. Scott- are they still having campout for the fairlyand game? 1/27/2007 9:21:51 PM |

Yea...we were stationed in front of the bookstore, didn't have a tent, and not enough blankets, so we slept with the curb as our pillow. really cold and we missed out of all the events since we were so far out of the way. We didn't even get random checks or garbage bags. 1/27/2007 9:34:12 PM |

hah. That's why you prepare early. Make sure you have tents and a good sleeping bag or just have a lot of clothes on and stay up all night. You always underestimate the first campout though. 1/27/2007 9:42:21 PM |

Haha nah I didn't get into the sleeping bag till much later, I was playing football with some other guys in my group near the bag though. I would've had bags and tents but I was coming down from Richmond and figured my group would get the stuff and not wait till that night to try . I did wear lots of clothes though. 1/28/2007 11:39:19 AM |

i dont know what they are going to do about campout for Maryland
i know that admin is pissed about the car, and they are going to meet about it this week
as that i am not even a student anymore i dont even know when or where that will be
but truth be known, i would rather just run the campout and stay out of the politics
if i had still been a student this year, we would have had campout for Duke
the 83 championship game no being on is my fault, I have moved twice in the past year, and i just couldnt find the tape, for that i apologize] 1/28/2007 12:12:32 PM |

I think we should start doing campout over in the parking lost at the stadium. Wouldn't have to deal with buses and cars trying to run everrone over and there would be plenty of space. And admin wouldn't have to worry about us destroying anything since there isn't shit to destroy.

ahaha i was there during the days of the bonfires
in fact, my freshman year was the year they had the breakdown - the last "true" campout. It was awesome.
We ended up getting sprayed down by the fire department in freezing temperatures. People were throwing all sorts of shit into the fire (newspaper stands, trashcans, a chick's bumper off her jeep, pallets, you name it). Then, of course, the toilet paper that thrown into the trees and lit on fire, or the beer bottles that would be thrown into the fire only to explode.
I can't believe they do it at Talley now though... it used to stretch from Becton all the way down that mulch area to past the bookstore, and into the courtyard between Turlington and Alexander.
But that was before this Registration and stuff. Back then, it was just "whoever is first gets best seats" 1/28/2007 2:38:41 PM |

Scott,
I think I still have the 83 game in my VCR from using it last year....I'll check today...I'll be at the Maryland campout (assuming they still plan it, have signup ASAP, etc) and I'll bring all that stuff out there then...
Sorry I forgot about it and didn't mention it this year 1/29/2007 12:30:57 PM |
