Wouldn't oxygen be considered weightless?
What about a gas -slightly- heavier than oxygen? If it's only a tick over weightless, it'll be hugely expensive per pound regardless of its price per unit.
Some sort of incense smoke?
AND JUST TELL US ALREADY, DAMN IT

No, oxygen would have a weight, it would just be very light, and that's what we're going for here.
I don't know how reliable it is, but "Density of oxygen at NTP (Normal Temperature & Pressure) is 1.331 kg/cubic metre, so divided by 35.3147 = 0.03769 kg/cubic foot, or 0.08307 pound/cubic foot. " 1/29/2007 10:37:22 PM |

alright alright... i will disclose it now.
it is wood (called as oud) that is burnt to produce a good smell.
but not as sticks. it is sold as irregularly shaped wood pieces. here is a typical pic from the web:
Quote : | "Bakhoor or Oud are derived from special trees which are grown in India, Pakistan and Malaysia. These trees are very rare and are protected, only a certain amount are allowed to be cut each season. These trees are then chopped into wood chips. These wood chips contain delightful fragrances which are extracted when burnt. The fragrances in these trees are formed over a period of 100 years." |
it is burnt in in burners shaped like these:
http://badjenid.tripod.com/bakhoor.html
the salesperson said the most expensive one came from trees in india that are more than a millenium old, although i don't know how true that is.
typical prices in the shop [for the expensive varieties] ranged from USD 2,000/lb to USD 10,000/lb. (price of gold)
and then there was a sudden jump to USD 4 million/lb. the relatively cheaper ones i mentioned above are sold like candy, according to the salesperson.
if anybody feels this was anti-climactic, remember:
Mind-boggling, because the commodity seems so mundane when you hear about it.
