wow thats hot! I have always liked hatches...like the Audi A3 is my current favorite. but this looks just as hot.
and i'm sure as SandSanta has pointed out, he is probably taking a corner extremely hard. Unless you have after market coilovers, stiffer sway bars and a lower center of gravity...you're going to get body roll

AMIRITE?" |
No, press releases and NASIOC.com says:
Impreza 2.5i: 5-door Hatch & 4-door Sedan Impreza WRX: 5-door Hatch & 4-door Sedan Impreza WRX STi: 5-door Hatch
Note: Only specs for North America. Europe will not have a Sedan. Nor will Japan. Australia is rumored to have sedan as well since the WRX is very popular down there.

Has come up with his interpretation of what a hatch STi should like like. Wow, looks mighty aggressive, ready to pounce. So pulled back that it looks like it is the size of the Yaris hatch.

Why do the WRX STi and the Lancer Evo always have such pedestrian wheels? Whether you look at last gen or this new gen, yucky plain wheels. Heck, even Civics and Malibus etc come with better more aggressive/sporty wheels these days.

LA 2007: 2008 Subaru WRX STI priced at $34,995
Quote : | "The WRX STI's revised 2.5-liter intercooled turbocharged Boxer engine, now with Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS), produces 305 horsepower (SAE) at 6,000 rpm, a gain of 12 over the previous model. The 290 lb.-ft. torque peak is the same as before but arrives at 4,000 rpm, which is 400 rpm earlier, for better response. Significantly, the more powerful 2008 WRX STI achieves the very stringent Bin 5 Tier 2-Federal (EPA) and LEV2-California Tier 2/Bin 5 emissions certification. " |

EVO X vs STI - Tsukuba Lap Times
Quote : | "It didn't take long for Japan's journalists to get the new STI and EVO X side by side, and the results are now officially in. Tsukuba circuit regulars Kazuo Shimizu and Manabu Kawaguchi spent an afternoon thrashing around the notoriously twisty short circuit just north of Tokyo and here (drum roll please) are the best times they could ring out of the AWD rivals:
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X : 1:06:46
Subaru Impreza WRX STI : 1:05:95
So there you have it. The new engine placed further forward in the engine bay of the EVO X than in the EVO IX has indeed proven to be a handicap, while the STI's "wheel at each corner" longer wheelbase plus new double wishbone rear suspension has proved its worth.
Neither car is quite as quick as its immediate ancestor though.
Check out this 15 year rivalry of the EVO vs the STI as recorded at Tsukuba:
EVO / STI
2006 1:05:07 / 1:04:72
2005 1:04.88 / 1:04:17
2003 1:05:30 / 1:04:69
2001 1:05:17 / 1:06:56
1998 1:04:69 / 1:06:73
1996 1:07:00 / 1:05:92
1994 1:06:52 / 1:06:26

Non turbo Impreza hatchbacks are all over downtown seattle - partly because Flexcar apparently bought a lot of them, and partly because the Subaru wagon is nearly the official vehicle of this city/state.
I'm kinda drawn to the WRX hatch - it's probably the most fun practical car for the money. Not sure if I'll put up the $25k for one though. 12/7/2007 6:17:59 PM |

328i is actually a wagon.
The Mazda speed has more distinguishing features.
This actually looks like it copied a MZ 3 hatch.

Subaru's Senior suggests STI Junior
Quote : | "Subaru has gained itself quite a cult following with performance Imprezas. Based on its victories in the World Rally Championship, the WRX and STi versions of the Impreza have been a big hit with the gonzo street-racer crowd. With the introduction of the latest STi, Subaru left a gaping hole between the mighty fast 224-hp WRX ($24,350) and the super-fast 305-hp WRX STi ($34,995). Since more customers will want to upgrade from the WRX than can afford the $10k+ leap to the STi, Subaru is reportedly considering slotting a new model in between the two, which could come in a little under $30k and offer about 265 horses under hood.
The report comes from our friends down under at Drive.co.au, who were speaking with Nick Senior of Subaru Australia. According to Senior, parent company Fuji Heavy Industries "has a fair bit on its plate" at the moment, alluding to the reported upcoming Celica which Subaru is developing with partner Toyota, so we shouldn't expect a mid-level WRX anytime soon, but it is on Subaru's radar screen for the future. Senior also said we can expect Subaru to churn out some special-editions, like a stripped-out STi track car, so stay tuned." |

a new STi came up on me while I was going on 85-south today. I wanted to play but he just kept zooming along at 80mph. I was doing 65mph (in a 60 zone) and don't like speeding to catch up to people. I just want a quick sprint and be done with it I didn't think they were out yet.
In fact, there were many other potentials, but none of them wanted to play either

not really a fan. previous generations are way better looking. scrolling through these pages, i realized the front kind of struck me as saab-ish, except ugly. shame they had to screw up such a cool model. I don't mind that they're making the STI hatch-only, hatches are cool (see: A3), but at least make it look good.

Impreza WRC 2008
Quote : | "Highlights of the Impreza WRC2008 include a 1994cc turbocharged flat four, running an IHI turbo equipped with the WRC-mandated 34mm restrictor plate and Subaru's own anti-lag system to produce 300 hp at 5,500 rpm and... wait for it... 479 lb.-ft. [] of torque at 3,000 rpm.
Power is sent to a six-speed electro-hydraulic transmission, through an electronically controlled center diff and down to the wheels through mechanical differentials, fore and aft. Bos shocks are being used in conjunction with the front and rear MacPherson setup, while AP Racing, 310mm discs are clamped by six-piston calipers both in front and in the rear. BBS wheels are fitted at all four corners, with 15-inchers used for gravel stages and 18-inch rollers for tarmac attacks. The rally racer's weight is set at the WRC minimum of 2,712 pounds." |
