Your ratio on demonoid has no effect on your download speeds, queues or anything else like that.
You will not be banned for having a bad ratio. The only point the ratio serves on Demonoid is invites. You can only get invites if you have at least a 1.0 ratio. Well.. ratio also gets you some respect, people will grant your torrent requests and may seed for you on a torrent that zdoesn't have many seeds on it.

Some useful information for the people worried about ratios:

If you just outright close your torrent client, your up/down numbers most likely wont be sent to the tracker, because the client will lose the connect to the tracker before it can send an event=stopped along with the stats for each torrent. So, before you close your client, manually stop your torrents, either all at once or one at a time. Wait about 3 minutes, then close your client. If this does not work, and you still don't see your ratio changing, go to your tracker website before you stop the torrents. login and click around for a minute or so, so that the website can associate your ip with the tracker.

That's really the only thing.

I'd suggest more options on sorting search results. Maybe the ability to search by user name, or number of seeds.

^ you can search by seeds, etc. there was a dropdown box above the search results that let you do that. however, it will not appear unless you perform a search, and the results can't be ridiculously huge either
