i think it will be more like "don't vote for obama because he won't win anyway." and it will be from people who don't want democrats to win in the first place.

Pardon the generalization, but someone who would not vote for a candidate due soley to the gender or race of said candidate would most likely not vote for a Democratic party candidate in the first place.

I don't have any data to support my assumption, but it seems logical enough to me to think that gender and race would thus not have a tremendous influence on the general outcome of the election.

A lot of feminists and blacks are sexist and racist respectively when it comes to voting. These groups vote overwhelmingly democrat. A significant portion of republican voters are racist and/or sexist, but overall it evens out I think.

I don't mean to imply that the Republican party supports sexist and racist viewpoints. But certainly, I wouldn't think that a racist or sexist would vote for a Democratic party candidate.

The Democratic party platform doesn't typically support those viewpoints. How many racists would have supported voting for welfare programs and affirmative action legistlation had their candidate just not have been black?

I think that affirmative action is inherently racist and sexist, so the Democratic party does in fact support racism and sexism in my view.

I think those who vote against Obama because of his race will be balanced out by those who vote for him because of his race.
