haha that could have a thread of its own

19 is fairly easy...only 5 blocks to break

if you havent done so already though, i'd say make sure your paddle movement speed (in Options) is set to 'Fast' and make sure paddle acceleration is checked

my high score is over 30,000

back to more vacillating like a typical politician...

I like my 8830, but VZW just released this Motorola Q 9m w/ Windows Mobile 6 (which I've been told resolves my complaints about the sluggishness of the Q unit I was using running WM5). I'm not really interested in swapping phones, but I am curious -- what's the pros/cons between Blackberry OS and Windows Mobile (beyond push email)?

I just increased my world ranking in brickbreaker to 7925!

Once you beat all 34 levels, you start back at level 1, except that the ball moves faster and the bricks start dropping immediately.

god this game is so fucking addictive. I've had my pearl for 8 months now, and I still can't stop playing it.

fyi Nextel no longer sells new 7520s. If you break a scroll wheel or something they can send you a refurbished one but if you are a Nextel subscriber the ONLY new blackberry you can buy now is the 7100i

Why should I get a blackberry over a treo or iPhone?

Assuming network isn't an issue.

for non-business use, personal preference is the answer to your query.

I just got a curve yesterday and the phone is all that but Suncom does not work at all the place I am currently working.

boo to Nextel for not offering the curve yet.

I might keep it anyway because it has unlimited phone, text, data, long distance, blackberry for $75 a month.

not a question, just something I realized today...

if you are upgrading a BES (for Exchange) from 4.1.0 to 4.1.4mr4, you cannot upgrade your database if it is a SQL database. instead, you need to allow it to create a new one, then go into the server config and have it point to your old SQL database.

^^^

Thats kind of what I figured. I was madly in love with the Treo, then the iPhone came out and now I'm waiting on the next iPhone to see exactly what it'll have. I'm in no hurry to upgrade my phone. Just looking at the options.

VZW 8830:

Uploaded MP3 ringtones can get really loud when played through the media player. When assigning them to a ring profile, "Loud" in the menu is much lower in volume than the media player. Why?

Bonus question:

Are the sound files of the original beeps from my BB 850 and later Nextel 7520 available anywhere as an MP3?

Sprint 8830

Whats the difference between the Maps application, and using the GPS with that

and the GPS service that you have to pay extra ($10/month?) for?

^I have the new Pearl, and it works the same as the 8830 regarding GPS.

Blackberry Maps is like Google Maps for your desktop. It is 2d, and the directions aren't voice guided.

Telenav is like a TomTom or Garmin, giving you 3d maps (or 2d if you want) as well as being voice guided. The cool thing about Telenav is that it is always updated so you don't have to pay any more than the $10/month, and it is always the latest maps. It also gives you a cool little ETA at the bottom corner.

I took these photos sitting at my kitchen table btw

i've used telenav before in NYC, Chicago, etc and its worked great (except for the inevitable dead zones due to skyscrapers blocking signals)

had to run osql -E then modify the DB to MAXSIZE=UNLIMITED to get MDS working right with 4.1.4mr4. damn blackberry manager wouldn't even open up. random .net 1.1 (visual C++) errors had me scratching my head all day. but now it's fixed. phew!

oh damnit, now i'm gonna have to try and beat that what level did u get to (assuming it started over)

i just figured out the gun does thru metal blocks, so that should help.

my top score is 30,400

cant recall which level got me the 2nd time through but its one with a low metal row of blocks and since the board immediately starts to fall as soon as the ball hits the paddle, it is crucial...it would be very helpful to have a Catch on that board

What is the biggest microSD card that the Curve 8300 will support? Will is support microSDHC?
Your current competition:

AT&T says 2gb
Blackberry and Sandisk say 4gb
Various other sites say 8gb

^^not sure about the specs, but i'd imagine regardless of the carrier, it could vary based on software/firmware version...but if you make sure you have the most recent handheld software i'm sure those numbers are legit

well, my pearl supports 4GB SDHC, so i'm guessing the curve supports at least that

blackberryforums.com or pinstack.com would be your best bet

My boss has an old 7100i. Anytime she hooks it up to the car charger, it'll make the hourglass thing pop up and after a while it'll go back to normal and she'll get a mail message saying "You handheld has been registered with the wireless network".

Any clue what might cause this?

i get those SMS messages that say "Your handheld has been registered to the wireless network" sometimes but I thought it seemed like it was when I was out of the service area for a while and reacquired reception with a tower....not sure though...most of the time I don't get that message but some days I've gotten it 6-8 times...never quite sure why

That might explain it (the loss of tower connection) because she lives in an area where her service is spotty.

I have heard that those particular messages do not count against your monthly SMS/MMS message limit so she shouldn't have to worry about that

BB 8830, running Notes 6.5 on my work PC
In Notes I have a bunch of rules which filter messages into folders based on criteria
But my mail isn't showing up into those folders on the Blackberry

I can view those folders on mt 8830, but there is no mail in them, even though I can see the mail in those folders when I'm on my workstation. So when I'm out of the office, I rarely receive new messages because if the message gets filtered into a folder because of a rule, and I never get the new mail notification on the 8830.

Any ideas?

you got a BES server? i know when i set up a BES user, in their profile I have to manually set it to forward subfolders because by default it just forwards your main Inbox

wifi on the 8120 doesn't appeal to me and we don't have any CDMA networks for the 8130
