IGN's quoting $169.99 ($170) for the 360 & PS3 & $159.99 for the PS2

Apparently I'm retarded. Unless they changed the article I linked to the other day it said $170 as well, but I typed out $180.

The game will only be sold as a bundle until at least 2008. This means no wireless Xbox 360 guitars until at least 2008.

ELECTRIC VERSION!?! (Not to mention RUN TO THE FUCKING HILLS.)

It's official: Rock Band's setlist is better than GH3.

Why is Wave of Mutilation in the 2000s? It was on Doolittle..

Maybe it's the UK Surf version that didn't get released on an LP until 2001.

nah, apparently it was just a typo on the press release. It's listed correctly on the website.

The UK Surf version is WAAAY too slow to be fun to play in a game.

Not to mention that the guitar parts would be 10% as fun.

federal, God, and I played it Saturday night at Best Buy while we were waiting for GH3. I only played once but the I just wasn't used to the guitar. The buttons are a little bigger on fret and I'm used to the GH3 one. Also, the BB employees didn't calibrate the drums correctly so it seemed to be off for the first 10 people who played.

that setup was pretty badass

i just played the drum part for Say it Ain't So in best buy today at lunch and it's way more awesome than guitar hero iii (just got that on sunday). i HAVE to have this game. sucks it's not on wii though. i'll order it for ps3 i guess.

the drums were pretty cool to play on. apparently there's a bass pedal but it was nowhere to be found in the store. i liked the parts were you could do your own solo/improvised part. really cool.

When we calibrated the drums, the guitar got off, and then when we calibrated the guitar, the drums were off. I'm sure it will be fixed, but it was frustrating. Also, they didn't have the mic working either. I am pretty excited about the solo fretboard though.

http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/10/30/rock-stars-xbox-360-usb-hub-fail

Quote :
"We've known for a long time now that the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band will come with a wired guitar, and that presents a problem for the 360's two front USB ports. There simply aren't enough. 1UP has just received the final, production USB hub that will come with the game, and let me explain why the PlayStation 3 version is now the most attractive.

* The USB hub plugs into the wall

Okay, this is more like one major flaw, but I wanted to be really clear on why this is terrible. The market for a $170 bundle of rhythm game instruments includes some hardcore gamers, and we need our plugs. I had to do some creative wiring simply to add an HDMI switcher to my entertainment center, and I'm scared that if I add yet another power strip we'll be dealing with a fire hazard-type situation. Gamers simply don't need anything else that has to have a power source. "

Although, I guess this only applies to people that will be using all 4 instruments at once.

I played the guitar today ... I didn't like the feel at all. Maybe because I'm so used to GH. I did like how quiet the strummer is; the clicking of the GH controllers gets tiresome.

I'm going to have to see how well it registers with a pick before I decide about it...GH and GH2 work great with a pick, but whoever changed the strum recognition for GH3 sucked all the fun out of it for me, since I now have to think about what I'm doing with my right hand instead of letting it flow.

the wal-marts that are "breaking street" on it are actually selling their demo units. the same demo units that have no bass pedal and running a non-final version of the code

Yeah, I was gonna say, those unboxing pics look mighty unprofessional. I didn't think the packaging would look like that for the final versions.

I like the RB guitar a million times more than the GH controller. It's amazing what a little proper neck and fretboard radius can do for the feel.

That doesnt make sense, especially because harmonix's last official word was they were bumping it up from the 23rd to the 20th.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6181687.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0

You got a link for a press release or something?

Ebgames.com and others still show it on the 20th.

Black Sabbath made more songs than Paranoid, War Pigs, and Iron Man.

Damn, I've been waiting to play this game for months now. I played the demo at Best Buy, but the demo drumset doesn't have a kick pedal. I was actually a little disappointed at the drumset. I was expecting the drum heads to be rubber, but they have a hard plastic feel with no resilience, which makes drum rolls impossible. Maybe putting rubber bands on the drumsticks would solve that problem, I dunno. So imo, the drumset should not be a substitute for learning how to play. The feel is completely different, but it's a great way to develop rhythm. And it is still quite addicting. I don't like having to pay $170 for a game, but I'm most likely going to buy it. I anticipate at least 8 or 9 more Rock Band games with drums.

Also, has anyone thought about getting a microphone stand? I wonder if it would fit in the clamp.

I'm not sure, since the neck isn't as wide as a real guitar's and it's hard to compare. It felt like somewhere between 16-20".
