yes. good reminder. I just saw the $9.25 ticket price and assumed he was talking about adult tickets. But lets never forget $6 student tickets all day at Galaxy.

It was pretty good... i'd give it a 70%. It really wasn't lacking much, but it didn't impress me. It really doesn't deserve the 93% on RottenTomatoes

both movies were kind of meh. I liked this movie better than Cloverfield but still, the dialogue in this movie was VERY annoying. There was no need for ALL of those sayings and quips to be in every one of her freaking sentences.

The TOPIC of their discussion of music didnt bother me, however it was carried out in a way that (whether true or not) made it seem like they had NO idea what they were talking about which was almost painful to watch.

soundtrack was ok, but not something id be picking up anytime soon.

story was actually pretty good, there were just things in the movie that annoyed me that overshadowed it.

i thought i would really enjoy it a lot more than I did. 6.5/10

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I didn't really think about it that way until reading that, which would explain why it felt "hey I'm hip, check out what I listen to and watch." In other movies mentioning music is pulled off with better execution, Ghost World comes to mind for comparison.

This movie was awesome.

Best comedy of 2007.

Seems like the type of movie you would watch in Dr. Orgeron's or Wallis's class.

man i dono, i need to watch this movie again i suppose(the gf wants to see it so that works out well) but I was just really disappointed the first time through. as ive said before, I think it was the high expectations I had going for it with the 93% on RT, some good reviews here and several actors/actresses in the film that I enjoy.

I really thought that I was just going to love the everliving quirky heck out of this movie and ended up not really liking it.

Top Ten reasons why Juno sucks ass

10. #117 out of 250 on IMDB.com top 250 of all time?
Further proof that no one knows what the fuck. Are you kidding me? #117 of all time?

9. The inevitable shit storm that will erupt when popular culture embraces this movie
Just as with Napoleon Dynamite, prepare to see a horde of 13 year old girls using phrases from this movie (see #6) and purchasing new music (see #5). Also, Hot Topic is now going to carry t-shirts with Michael Cera on it that says "Wizard!!"

8. Incessant band name dropping
Yes I've heard of Sonic Youth. Have you heard of "I'm going to punch you in the fucking baby if you don't stop this stupid shit?"

7. 16-year-olds who talk like they're 25
You fail at realism. And Ellen Page needs less lines. Yes, you are very annoying when you talk.

6. Let's use cool words!
Wizard! Honest to blog! How about SHUT THE FUCK UP you indie hispter shitstain.

5. Let's use cool retro things!
Omigoh! A hamburger phone!? How terribly retro and cute! Did you get it from a thrift store? Wizard! Tic-tacs!? Wow? That's so 1993! Honest to blog it is! And Hotpockets too? Omigoh!

4. Abortion is for losers!
Great idea. Let's make a movie that appeals to young girls, and let's also tell them that it's a better idea to give birth instead of getting an abortion or taking the morning after pill. Also, let's not mention using condoms either or birth control. Also, see #3 and #2. Oh, and why did you leave the Abortion Clinic again, Juno? Because the receptionist was annoying? Are you fucking kidding me?

3. Adoption is easy... and fun!
I'm sure that painting giving up your child for adoption as an easy and fun process where you pick something out of the newspaper is a good message to pass onto 16 year olds. Because every mother who gives up their child for adoption is oh so willing to do so and has no feelings towards the child whatsoever.

2. Birth is easy... and fun!
Screw the pain, labia-tearing, and blood of childbirth, let's make it a 10 second slow motion scene set to sappy music.

1. Most Misandric movie of the year!
300 had a better treatment of the opposite sex than Juno. Every male character in this movie is either a bumbling idiot or a complete pussy. The father fails at raising his daughter, plus he doesn't know how to communicate with her. The boyfriend is a bumbling nerd who is less masculine than Juno herself. The adopting father fails at raising kids and pussies out because he can't man up.

Elitist much?

I really liked the movie. I thought Juno came off as extremely intelligent, yet young at the same time.

I liked the soundtrack, and I didn't have a problem with the band name dropping. It was the vessel for the two of them to become "friends".

You're on an awefully high fucking horse if you think this movie was dogshit.

i thought this movie was pretty good. the inventing of slang really bothered me. where was this supposed to take place, the midwest? i don't buy it. and there was a group of like 16 year old girls behind me that repeated every stupid line.

so yeah, i can't see it getting best picture ever.

I agree with God.

although I don't think it was clearly "anti-male," the movie def gave a completely unrealistic presentation of contraceptive use (or lack of)... I know it's "just a movie" but it kind of scares me how some young girls out there might be like "oh, pregnancy is kind of cool."

i heard a discussion on NPR about movies like Juno and Knocked Up as implicitly pro-life...

and NO i'm not saying contraceptives are the same thing as abortion, so calm down (in advance)
i just think that it's dangerous to make an issue such as this seem simple and even worse- funny and hip.

Considering both movies mentioned abortion as a viable choice, I don't really see that to be the case. At least if you take pro-life to mean anti-choice. It's more "choose-life" if anything.

^^ do it.

I'd like to join the list of people who really enjoyed it. I knew what it was going to be about, but I hadn't really heard anything about it other than it was a decent flick.

I had next-to-no expectations, having no idea what it was going to be like, and I came away very pleased.

On the other hand, I saw Cloverfield and Transformers with the highest possible expectations I could possibly have, and I came away incredibly pleased as well.
