At least the Mets are trading their future for him. It's not like he's a free agent and they're "buying" him. I think it'll happen by 5.

150.75 for 7 years

After Barry Fucking Zito got 126 over 7, this seems very reasonable by comparison

^ Terrorist convention.

Also what is this shit about Pedro and Juan Marichal participating in a cock fight that got posted on youtube. Apparently Pedro's cock got killed.

PETA is going to burn down Shea.

I love Beltran spitting Jimmy Rollins quote back at him

Rollins backed his up with an MVP season...hopefully Carlos can copy him on that too

Are the Phillies our new biggest rival?

I guess with two straight third place finishes, the Braves should be irrelevant now, no?

Quote :
"“I think there’s defintely something going on there. I don’t really think this is for the fans. I think it’s for each other. I really do…There were guys in (Philadelphia’s locker room) the other day, suggesting, ‘There will be a brawl,’ and we sure hope we’re all there for that.”"

I hope Delgado breaks Jimmy Rollins face in two. I'm sure we could feed Ryan Howard donuts on the side to keep him away. Utley has no personality whatsoever and probably isn't a brawler. I think Myers might be the hardest guy on either side though but maybe if he's not beating his wife he's not a fighter?

I think Castro could be our secret weapon if a fight did break out. He's built like a fucking freight train and at the very least could sit on somebody for a while while Moises peed on them.

Beltran and Santana seem like pretty boys who probably wouldn't get too involved.

I could see Wright going either way...the way he plays makes me think he'd be a scrapper, but some of the pictures I've seen of him makes me think he'd be a slapper.

We're DOOMED!!!!

Johan was just trying to locate and threw far more sliders than usual. It was interesting to see him throw his "out" pitch (the change) on 1 strike counts... he was just trying to get a feel for his pitches.

That change is freaking SICK though... can't wait for the season.

Who cares when he throws his "out" pitch. If you only throw it on 2 strike counts, they'll sit on it. The best pitchers throw any pitch, in any count. Honestly I have reservations about Johan, he could be the first pitcher to win 30 games in ___ (i don't feel like looking) or he might be the pitcher that gave up a ton of HRs and was slightly above average for the last 3 months last year. Obviously, something was slightly off last year... better hope his catcher/pitching coach/self make that shit right again.

rough day for the Mets....

Ryan Church suffered a concussion in Saturday's collision with Marlon Anderson and is on the way to the hospital for a CT scan.

Church, who said afterwards that he didn't remember the collision, also complained of a sore jaw. Mar. 1 - 3:17 pm et
Source: Newsday

Carlos Delgado was sent to New York on Saturday for an MRI on a sore right hip.

The Mets may regret not bringing in more insurance for Delgado this year, though that's something they still could address before Opening Day. Delgado missed 2 1/2 weeks late last season with a strained right hip flexor. The Mets are saying that they don't believe his current injury is serious, but the truth is that he's having trouble bouncing back from even minor problems at this stage in his career.

triple post

Ollie looking strong today. The Mets 1-4 is the best in baseball... too bad 5 is so iffy. I hope Pelfrey can actually act like he has a sac on the mound... he'll be pitching in ATL first weekend of the season..

Oh and Adam Eaton is in midseason form. 4 IP, 7 ER, 11 hits. Solid staff you got there, Philly...

^ Phils bullpen = FTL

Honestly I am excited about the NL East this year, but I as a Brave fan, I am worried that Santana and Pedro win 40+ games between the two of them. Please John Smoltz injury to not be severe.

With the off days in the first part of the schedule it looks like we won't need a 5th starter till that Milwaukee series on the second weekend

Not sure how Willie wants do set the rotation up though

Needs to be posted in this thread:

Quote :
""Thank you, oh nerds of the internet, for being responsible for possibly our favorite prank ever.

It goes like this: A few weeks ago, perpetual underdogs the NY Mets featured an online contest, asking fans to pick which song the team would play during the 8th inning song at Shea Stadium. The team offered up 10 choices — including Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Waitin’ On a Sunny Day” — but failed on many levels with what is commonly known as an “Other” option, i.e. “Fill your own song in here.” Internet nerds responded accordingly, filling in the classic 80s jam “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.

On Digg, the link aggregating website fueled by hundreds of thousands of users, the link to the Mets Website received nearly 9,000 Diggs — which can translate to nearly 10 times as many hits — with each person voting for Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

Now, the final vote tally hasn’t been announced, but if successful, blue-collar New Yorkers (remember, we’re talking Mets fans, and ps, Go Mets!) will spend an entire baseball season being Rick-Rolled by hundreds of thousands of forum-trolling internet nerds. In other words, this is one of the greatest thing to ever happen to America. Pranks for the memories, Internet Nerds.

When reached for comment, Rick Astley seemed thrilled: “We know the game and were gonna play it!”""

I'll post in your thread, Mr. Met. The Braves and their shitty April schedule are just a half game back of your girls.

They're actually batting .167 with 2 out RISP, 17 RBI in 92 PA. Yikes!

Don't take anything I say in here seriously. I use it as my stream of consciousness during the season. I realize it's a long 162 game season and overreacting to a slow start is stupid...

Mets are fine and they will win the East...

speaking of Casanova, how many announcers make jokes when he doesn't score? "Casanova couldn't get past 1st base" "Casanova is out trying to steal 2nd" "Casanova with a shot to deep center"
