If I did not already have liquor I would most likely have parked at Food Lion, bought beer, then walked across the street leaving my car at Food Lion; instead of parking at the house next door. I was a food lion customer and I was not a "student wolfline user". yet i would have been very surprised and extremely infuriated to come back the next day to find my car towed

I think when I own my own store I will put up the sign "Attention Asians, you must park in the very back spaces violators will be towed."

Then when I see any black, hispanic, towel head, or eskimo park in the front spaces I will tow their ass.

Yeah my example is a little out there but you guys are stupid if you think what food lion did was right and even 100% legal. There is something called predatory towing laws. I never once said that Food Lion does not have the right to put up a sign threatening to tow anyone not shopping at Food Lion. The issue that you guys can't seem to get is that they put up a sign telling the Park n Ride customers that ride the wolfline to park on the outer perimeter; otherwise these people will be towed b.c they will be parked in prime spots that food lion customers want to park in during the week. It really does not take much logical reasoning to see why what food lion did was wrong.

If I was gonna go to a HURparty and parked over at Food Dawg, I would damn sure make sure that I parked in an area where Food Dawg doesnt give a shit(ala, the outer) whether I was a student or not. The manager saw cars parked in the inner when the store was closed, knew it wasnt customers or employees, so he had them towed. I bet yah yall will not park in the inner anymore. You will most likely be at that Food Dawg within a week buying more beer, but under protest.

I guess you guys are gods and are geniuses of street smarts. I would have never thought twice about parking in the parking lot of a commercial parking lot of businesses open to the public. Unless that is I saw a sign that said private property, no parking after hours, or [insert store name] customer parking only.

You guys are probably the same bitches crying and sucking the tow truck guys cock when your asses got towed from somewhere that actually had a sign specifically stating you will go towed but felt that it does not apply to you.

If I am parking on campus in a "C" zone at 7 pm I do not expect to get a parking ticket because the sign says "C" permit only 7am-5pm. Likewise when a sign at business open to the public states "Student WolfLine riders will be towed" if i park there at midnight I do not expect to be towed since I am not riding the goddamn wolfline and the parking lot is off of a public venue and not "private property" which to get the designation requires a sign recognizing such. Further if I visit campus and park in a RD space that says 24 hours towing anytime then I expect to be towed.

yeah i'm working on this situation and have been gathering info and making the necessary phone call connections. I was just rather shocked at the self-rightous reaction of so many people when the issue is due the store's own signs designating who can park and not park where and where not. Further with just given the info posted on the signs anyone could have taken the sign at face value interpreting it as "ok" to park then ended up getting towed.

I used to work for McLauren parking ( you know the asshole who owns almost all the lots downtown) and unless they have changed the law recently, a store HAS to place a sign stating that you can not park your car overnight/ after business hours to tow you.
If they do NOT have that sign posted they have no legal right to tow your car.
Also they must place the company and number to get your car or else its NOT LEGAL.
so hell yes i would drive around all the lots at Food Lion and see if they have a sign. If not I would take legal action to get my money back.

alright, i feel like i need to put this in perspective for the people that haven't caught on. this was not a HUR-hosted party at a townhouse or neighborhood house, where there would be a limited number of people in attendance. this was a TKE-hosted fraternity party that they boast to be their biggest of the year (everyone can join facebook nowadays- what makes you think Ace Towing didn't peruse the events page) so there is guaranteed to be more than just a few friends parking in the food lion lot like he tries to make it sound. Of course Ace towing is going to notice lots of cars parked there.

I tend to take the approach were I don't park anywhere unless I'm sure it is allowed. However, the law actually works the other way. In Wake County you have to provide a standard size sign stating all your tow rules at all entrances. In addition, you have to provide a phone number to those who have been towed. Furthermore, you are suppose to accept credit cards, and in many places allow the person to get their car 24 hours a day, and contact the police after a certain amount of time if the person does not claim there car.

However, most people just need there car back so they pay up as soon as possible. This makes it more difficult because it looks like you agreed you're in the wrong. So if you have some time you should fill out a release form were they're required by law to release your car. Pending action on your disputed deposit or a trial will occur later.
