VI is probably my favorite original cast movie. (II is right up there as well of course.)

Not as bad as Nemesis and Insurrection, but they sucked"

WTF?! How can you even claim this? Undiscovered Country is one of the best Trek movies ever, typically in the top three along with Wrath of Kahn (and the third one will vary). I'll give you that Generations wasn't all that great, but I wouldn't say it was horrible either. I can let slip what you said about Generations, but VI? Maybe I didn't watch the same movie as you?

1. TWoK
2. Undiscovered Country
3. Voyage Home (not necessarily a great film, but the comedy and campiness was a nice return to Trek's original roots)
4. First Contact (although it loses points for turning the Borg into space vampires and for introducing the useless concept of the Queen, which contradicts the collective-minded nature of the Borg if you ask me)
5. Search for Spock
6. Generations (Brent Spiner finally got a chance to spread his acting wings)
7. Motion Picture (boring and slow)
8. Insurrection (plot was wtf)
9. Nemisis (see above)
10. Final Frontier (Billy Shatner's super-inflated ego)

god this is going to be the worst star trek movie of all time.

a. it's a prequel
b. unfortunate casting decisions
c. ridiculous idea of trying to replace the original kirk and crew.

Here's how I've always interpreted the various races:

-See I've always thought of the Borg to be the Soviet Union as they were the epitome of communism, selfless obedience of collectivism, the collective is greater than the individual

-The Federation is the United States and other like-minded countries operating as a loose confederation.

-The Ferengi are Switzerland/Wall Street/City of London.

-Romulans are clearly the Roman Empire (Romulus, Remus)

-Klingons...early 20th-century Germany? (after which they become good and later 20th-century Germany)

Federation = NATO
Starfleet = United States as we see ourselves

Klingons = Soviet Union and now Russia (our "friends"

Ferengi = Nigeria...you know it makes sense.

Romulans = Not Roman sorry, I would say more Imperialistic Japan. Romulans lived in secrecy for a long while.

Cardassians = WWII Germany or Italy

Your Romulan and cardassian comparisons are pretty retarded.

I actually don't think there's anything more then the US/USSR analogy.

And Romulans were forever ruined by Nemesis.

They almost looked asian at one point.

Plus, in the original series, the romulans attacked several starfleet bases without warning after a long period of isolation with respect to the Federation (pearl harbor)

All Good Things (TNGs last episode) was a lot better than some of the movies. Jean-Luc Picard holding his head in his hands seemingly disappointed because he thought he had failed all humanity moved me. that man is a fucking God among star trek men.

There is no argument about which Star Trek movie was the movie. There are only two acceptable answers to that. We're arguing about the rest of the list.

I'd say 3 acceptable answers; II, VI and First Contact. My personal favorite is First Contact, but I wouldn't fault anyone for putting either II or VI at the top of their list.

It wasn't that bad actually.

Much better then search for the whales.

yes I know.

but

these look different... a lot larger... maybe it is just a fucked up angle. I'll take a better look at them on my monitor at home that doesn't suck ass.

what it looks like to me (my monitor is dim so correct me if i'm wrong) is that the bussard collectors are fitted inside of the rest of the nacelle. in the original enterprise, they were not fitted inside anything... they were the entire front diameter of the nacelles.

except in the original enterprise they were more or less interior to the outermost expanse of the nacelle.

it's even more pronounced in TNG

i do agree the effect has been seemingly more exaggerated

its also the angle.... you're seeing the inside length of each nacelle (point of perspective)

I agree, some interesting sci fi, just could have made the villains a bit more interesting

search for whales was just terrible, star trek trying to be humorous
