Seriously, talk to a lawyer, and find out what you can do about teh cops who didn't even question the bitches who went up to them and talked to them about the attackers

I'm sure you can get something out of this - just don't take too long before you file the complaint in civil court

it was really blind luck that it happened like that, but if we wouldn't have asked around and pursued it he never would have been identified.

With the student legal services - it doesn't really matter. She's just there to give advice - she wouldn't mond giving you advice. You'll have to file teh complaint yourself, or get a lawyer for that though. Maybe you get get a lawyer to work on contingency - just ask the legal services lady, she's awesome,

Forget about the internet, buy local. Just go there and get yourself a hi-capacity 9mm like a used Ruger P89 that holds 16 in the mag and 1 in the chute. ($250). The XD will run you more money. and the chance of getting a used one is low.

If you want to spend a little more, go for a pre-owned Kimber or Springfield 1911 .45

If you can get a "Commander" frame 1911 .45 (shortened barrel, then go for it, but those are usually a little more expensive.


In conclusion, just go get something. The Police are not personal bodyguards, you need to protect yourself.

This is a sad day if shit like this happens.

I'm almost ashamed to say it but I wish there were more police in the area. Seems to be the only way people in urban areas seem to deal with crime these days, and the police only seem to deal with it if they're standing on the scene/monitoring it with a camera.

I also don't understand why they don't just raid the party instead of just telling the people to go elsewhere. Arrest every single person at a massively disruptive party of ~120 people and what happens? They sleep off their rage/drunkenness in a jail and are released the next day.

I mean, a huge crowd of people in an urban area, they all get pissed off because you get rid of their fun venue, then you don't keep track of where they go and a bunch of related crimes happen in the area... I dunno... Seems like you could just file a general complaint with the police department for them being negligent. If it IS as you said 100%, you might even mention it to the media, though I doubt they care since you're mostly uninjured and there's doubt that you weren't being racist.

Seriously, just see if you can't file a complaint with anyone in the city who might listen. Maybe you can argue for increased police patrols in the area or something. Somebody in there might actually care about people and try to make it happen.

I dunno, maybe I'm being too idealistic.

Also, I fully support a concealed carry as an option, but if you weren't willing to die in that situation (they might have guns too) and you weren't confident you could down a few of those guys before retreating, you should probably just consider adjusting your policies about going places at night. Park near there and cruise by first to see if anything looks sketch. If it looks the least bit sketch, even at a distance, just turn off on another street and go somewhere else, or go home!
