$25.00 $2.00 April 29, 2006 12:00 PM Raleigh World Beer Festival: Saturday, April 29, 2006

$30.00 $2.00 April 28, 2007 12:00 PM Raleigh World Beer Festival: Saturday, April 28, 2007

via my past 2 confirmation emails for the Raleigh Beer Fest.

I predict this year it will be $40.00 + $2.00 conv charge (which is bullshit imho)

The last one I went to was Durham in Fall 07 and it was $35. They could go for $50 and still easily sell out.

it you get them from a supplier, no conv. charge. if you wanna wait til you get there. you can most likely get them cheaper, but who knows how many there will be

Anyone subscribe to All About Beer magazine? If so, you get first dibs. I'm almost tempted to sign up.

Unless they form some kind of conspiracy and buy all the tickets to scalp them. But I guess the chance of that happening is rather small.

^ how the f**k would you know???

^^^not sure what you're referring to-- but tickets are selling out more quickly with each session... the past few have been sold out atleast a few weeks before the festival

However, if you really must wait until last minute-- there are always a few scalpers out front a few hours before with a few handfuls of tickets, a few people whose friends ditched them trying to make back their $$ on their friend's ticket... & there is always craigslist.

boss asked me if i should work at this...apparently, i have to haul kegs around for an hour, empty dump barrels for an hour (each of these once in the morning, once in the afternoon), but then the rest of the day is open for myself...i get a free t-shirt and...a mug? a glass? whatever it is i take around with me to get free beer

should i do it? i've never been before

^^well i was referring to the post about subscribing to the magazine just to get first dibs. (i think it cost money, if its free then yeah why not).

but yeah, they sell out quick, but not like a concert. and surprisingly there has been a decent amount at different locations incase the online sells out, which it tends to do before the other locations.

i mean i def. wouldnt wait, but within the first week you will have your chance to get a ticket.

^^haha-- so that means you'll be on the brew crew. hell yes you want to do it... you'll be shit faced for free before you leave on grreat beer
(brew crew... i.e. only volunteers legally allowed to consume at the festival)
Usually you have to be a part of the local home brewers club to be in the brew crew.

i put an ad on craigslist 2 weeks before the last one and got lucky when some lady sold me them becasue her daugher got sick or something.

beerfest is the shit though.

150+ vendors with 4+ draughts per vendor

the food is great and the merchandise is cheap (pint glasses $2-4; normally $10+)

^^ yeah, bossman is a longtime member of a (or the?) local brew club...i've been making mead and wine as of late, and so he's taking me under his wing to teach me how to make "real" stuff

sounds like it'll be fun...i need to let him know ASAP, i think

The tickets this year are $40 for each session, and $75 for the VIP tickets. They are not on sale yet, but should be coming in to the places listed within the next couple of weeks. Most likely by the end of March. You can also add Falls Tap Room to the list of places to purchase them.

I can't really blame them for hiking prices as long as they sell out. But I'm getting kind of annoyed at a $5 hike every 6 months

i want to go, but i might just stroll up there the day of the festival. at this point im not at a def. position whether i really want to go or not. i like to go for the atmosphere. once you go one time, the rest of them are the same. but its just the atmosphere that is awesome.

A few special beers for them, nicer bathroom facilities and probably some more stuff that's less appealing than those two things.

I can't see myself ever wanting VIP. The bathrooms are actually more appealing to me than the beers because there are already more than I can drink ... but I have a girly bladder and will probably spend half my time in the ridiculous lines

Beer prices have significantly increased, too-- for the amount & selection of beer available I think $40 is completely legit.

It takes a lot of $$ to set up these events... and you can't just increase the # of tickets to compensate because the place is crowded enough as it is. So, as long as they're selling out weeks in advance, it seems ticket price will continue to increase with each session.

yeah. $40 is def. a good price.
but they should give breaks to people who have been to more than a few. you know some sort of frequent beer festival deal

the most i waited in line last year to use the bathroom was no more than 5 minutes

@ $40 I'll still attend the raliegh festival, but I won't go to the Durham Festival in the fall like I've been doing since what feels like the begining of time. @ $50 I won't go. But I might head down & see if I can pick up someones cheap extra ticket.

I may do VIP just to be cool - this would be my first time going, it would be awesome if they had seperate lines at each stand for VIP's

they dont, the VIP's have their own tent that is separated from the two main tents

for those who have never been before, there are almost no lines at each individual stand

the most i had to wait for a beer last year was probably 2 minutes

^ is right. there is soo much beer there that you dont wait long at the stands. when you get there just dont start off at the first stand. go towards the back and work your way up. unless there is a certain beer you really want to try.
