you guys are so far on obama's dick, i might as well stop wasting my time...he is truly flawless and anyone who dares question his divine perfection is certainly a racist or something bad
and i'm not voting for any of the 3 candidates, so you simpletons will have to come up with something better than "oh yeah well mccain blah blah blah"
it would be funny if you could find a quote of robertson or falwell saying "god damn america"
i just remember when salisburyboy would make his claims about whites creating AIDS to kill blacks, the posts were treated as any salisburyboy post
but when Wright says the same things...oh it must be context] 4/28/2008 12:55:48 PM |

you can't find those quotes, but you can find this:
JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."
PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system..
p.s. no one is arguing infallibility, except you and your friends when it comes to the US.

Everyone needs to damn well sure know who they're voting for.
Quote : | "The Rev. Jeremiah Wright said Monday that he will try to change national policy by “coming after” Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if he is elected president.
The pastor also insisted Obama “didn’t denounce” him and “didn’t distance himself” from Wright’s controversial remarks, but “did what politicians do.”
Wright implied Obama still agrees with him by saying: “He had to distance himself, because he's a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was [portrayed as] anti-American.”
Wright, who was Obama’s pastor for 20 years and performed his wedding, made the explosive comment during a chaotic question-and-answer session at the National Press Club in Washington, following the pastor’s remarks about the black church in America.
“I said to Barack Obama last year, ‘If you get elected, November the 5th I'm coming after you, because you'll be representing a government whose policies grind under people,’ Wright said." |
That right there. I cannot and will not vote for Barack Obama. He is joined at the hip with this guy and I am afraid of the influence he has over Obama.
From later in the article
Quote : | ""He didn't distance himself. He had to distance himself, because he's a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was [portrayed as] anti-American. ...He did, as I said, what politicians do."" |
If I didn't know any better, I would believe that Karl Rove was feeding Wright his talking points. Sounds like a GOP TV ad to me.

i like the back and forth of wright and obama's relationship...how it always changes...have they distanced themselves from each other? like the "crazy uncle" in the family? or are they still close? if they're still close, anybody has good reason to be afraid of the influence he could have over obama if obama is president...if they're not still close...well that means obama's spiritual advisor over the last 20 years just gets thrown under the bus?
from that perspective its a lose lose for obama

I have no problem with people marginalizing Wright's comments if they perceive them as wonky, that would probably even be the best thing to do.
The problem is that people are assuming that Obama is the one that thinks Whitey created AIDS, or try to make that implication, which is absurd. The other problem is that people are painting Wright to be a racist, when the evidence says otherwise, but then are refusing to explain why they think this.
And Obama stated pretty blatantly that he still is fond of Wright in his first post-Wright speech, and he must be, considering how long he's known him. After Wright's speech, it should be obvious why (it wasn't as good as Obama's, but Wright is not a general nutjob, just your typical religious nutjob) But there is nothing to indicate that Wright, and especially Obama, actually hate white people.
Quote : | "Wright implied Obama still agrees with him by saying: “He had to distance himself, because he's a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was [portrayed as] anti-American.” " |
This is a completely disingenuous statement. Obama did distance himself from Wright, likely do in part to political reasons, but this doesn't imply "agreement." I have friends and had a pastor that I definitely didn't agree with for everything, so it doesn't make sense that me calling them friends means I "agree" with them. But Obama has no reason to hate Wright or to think he's completely crazy.
Quote : | "“I said to Barack Obama last year, ‘If you get elected, November the 5th I'm coming after you, because you'll be representing a government whose policies grind under people,’ Wright said." " |
What's wrong with this? Do you disagree that the gov.'s current policies don't grind under people? Because last time I checked, most people on TWW disagreed with a lot (if not most) of what the gov. does.4/28/2008 3:18:15 PM |

i'm still puzzled as to why the obama supporters who personally don't have a problem with wright's anti-american comments (does everyone at least admit that wright has at minimum made anti-american comments in the past?) don't realize the fact that obama is running for president of THE UNITED STATES and wright's anti-american comments were anti THE UNITED STATES...yet you dont think any other americans might have a problem with this? again, regardless of your personal opinions, are you really ignorant to the fact that some americans might have a problem with one of the presidential candidates' 20 year spiritual advisors having so much negative criticism of the country whose presidential position obama is running for?] 4/28/2008 3:41:42 PM |

This is just plain ludicrous. Politicians in general dodge issues like the plague, when was the last time McCain actually talked meaningfully about issues? Was it on his reminisce-about-high-school tour? Or the time he said he'd find a 100 billion dollars lying around to pay for stuff? Of all the politicians, Obama confronts the issues the most, and in the most honest way.
