This is such bullshit

I filed my taxes in Feb (late for me, but my previous employer refused to give me my info)

A few weeks later we find a house we love, and begin going through the motions to purchase

I file a 8822 change of address form to make sure my address is correct so that my refund would be sent to the correct address

Then the stimulus check stuff comes out, and my check is due to be mailed on June 6th. The 6th comes and goes, and I'm told to wait 6 more weeks before I claim it's "late"

So I call today, turns out they never put the paper work through for my address change, and it was sent to my old address.

But when I call to put in a change of address, I get this voice mail message "We are currently experiencing very high call volumes, and cannot help you at this time. Please call back on our next business day"

fuck that, it's 10 am, that's such bullshit

It took about 10 weeks for the IRS to send me a letter saying I needed to submit an additional form to support a tuition deduction for my wife. The 1098T that reports this was sent by the university under her maiden name to the IRS. I think some pencil-pusher's brain blew a fuse when he/she couldn't find the 1098T in her married name, and was too dimwitted to search by SSN. I made sure to send a copy of the 1098T with the form this time. So now I get to wait even longer for my refund and stimulus check. We were going to put the money towards an anniversary trip, and now we've got a $600 charge on a credit card for the reservation, so we'll likely incur interest on the amount we can't pay until we get the check. Dumbshits.

Just got my check in the mail today!

You can tell the government pushed these out in a hurry because the letter accompanying the check did not appear to have been proofread (it was in very broken english). It's also going to be a bit of a hassle having to go to Western Union to make the $4,500 wire transfer to the government's stimulus organization located in Nigeria. However, once I make the transfer they will be sending my $4,500 back to me plus the additional $2,000 check that I'm owed. Beggars can't be choosers though so I can't complain!!!
