^ so not only are you bad with numbers, you apparently also lack reading comprehension skills. That no where in that article did Reuters assert that democrats share a conscience, and feel guilt with that conscience regarding this issue.

I LOVE the whitehouse's response to Obama whinning over this.

“I understand when you are running for office sometimes you think the world revolves around you. That is not always true and it is not true in this case. The president is president regardless of an election cycle and he is going to be president of the United States through January 20, 2009,”

LOL, Love it.

Bush was right in what he said and when and where he said it.

^^ I'm better with numbers than you are--obviously. And the headline at issue certainly suggests a collective of some sort:

U.S. Democrats outraged by Bush 'appeasement' remark

http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-33603620080515

And stop being a douche bag--I think you know what I mean. You're just being pissy because you can't meaningfully answer my question:

Quote :
"Can anyone show me in Bush's speech where he mentioned that he was referring to Democrats or any specific person? Anybody?"

^ collective != conscience

Also, you used conscience in the sense of a guilty conscience, which is also not even close to the spirit of that article.

yeah. I fail to see where Dubya mentioned Obama or any other Democrat. He said that negotiating with terrorists is pointless, much like the policy of appeasement was pointless. Argue with that point all you will, that's fine. But nowhere did he say "Democrats are stupid, mang!"

Seems to me that the dems are getting their panties in a wad worse than when someone says "you people." It's telling that they feel the need to defend themselves when they weren't even mentioned

"But given his own position on Hamas, McCain is the last politician who should be attacking Obama. Two years ago, just after Hamas won the Palestinian parliamentary elections, I interviewed McCain for the British network Sky News's "World News Tonight" program. Here is the crucial part of our exchange:

I asked: "Do you think that American diplomats should be operating the way they have in the past, working with the Palestinian government if Hamas is now in charge?"

McCain answered: "They're the government; sooner or later we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another, and I understand why this administration and previous administrations had such antipathy towards Hamas because of their dedication to violence and the things that they not only espouse but practice, so . . . but it's a new reality in the Middle East. I think the lesson is people want security and a decent life and decent future, that they want democracy. Fatah was not giving them that.""

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/15/AR2008051503306.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

So does this make McCain a Nazi sympathizer or what?

The same people that threw a fit over the Dixie Chicks comments are defending President Bush on this. A musical trio's comments on a foreign stage are CLEARLY a bigger deal than far more outlandish comments by a President to a foreign political body.

this thread makes me laff.

Bush supporters surprise me every time.

there is not any front; national defense, the war on terror, the economy, national debt that wouldn't have turned out better if we had a stuffed panda in office versus Bush.

The fact that 9/11 happened IS NOT A MERIT TO BUSH. It's not a very relevant argument for either side except maybe that fact that he should have done more to stop it. How he handled it is the only thing that matters, which... well...

hey, let's accuse the democrats of not spreading hate messages directed towards Iran like the God fairing republicans do.

Why bother supporting Biden?

Its not like this is the first time Goerge W. Bush has said something exceedingly retarded.

^yes, because obama clearly knows how many states there are, and bush hasn't shown us anything that would suggest he knew how the word was spoken. In fact, hes given us many different situations in which he brings light to the opposite.

As a mizrahi jew this sort of bothers me. Mostly because not even I am so blind as to think this is a good idea nor do i have such a deep rooted connection to Israel where I would have the drive to do such a thing. Can you please explain why you feel so deeply rooted and connected to that place, otherwise it seems as if you're merely attempting to draw attention towards yourself in order to seek debate, which reeks of trolling.

Also, the comment about it being the only place that has the same blah blah balh as 3000 years ago, means nothing, because its not as if they have been doing that there consistently over the past 3000 years. I hope you understand this would be the same as the native americans getting back all of the united states and then making a similar claim. How would you feel if foreign nations decided the whole of the united states was to go back to the native american's hooksaw i'm guessing you'd have a gripe or two about that, but with [white] jews its okay?

of course not, but i dont claim to, like you do

the point was, when bush fucks up its because he's an idiot...when obama fucks up its an honest mistake...its a double standard

and your response was solid evidence of that

my response was anything but solid evidence of that. I showed that after numerous examples people began to find bush to be less than the brightest president we have had and has carried himself in such a manner that its easy for people to believe he may not know what is and is not correct in the example you provided. Its easy to assume based on how generally well spoken obama is what level of intelligence, and not only that, but also awareness, obama has and to assume he misspoke.

when there is clear and precise reason, it does not necessarily consist of a double standard. when its done out of ignorance and direct bias, it can be.

i'm simply saying because bush has been all over the news the last 8 years, and all of his speech has been dissected and broadcasted, he's obviously going to have plenty of gaffs like the 'strategery'...'but fool cant get fool me again"...but i'd attribute that more to inevitable longevity...give obama, mccain, hillary, whoever 8 years and they'll have just as many televised retarded misspoken statements

all 3 of the candidates have already made mistakes during their campaigning...most people dismiss them as just mistakes...but wait til those things add up over 4 or 8 years

i really think there is a difference with bush. listen to almost ANY of speeches. i don't think he's dumb, but he's just a bad public speaker and that accounts for most of the gaffes.

After bush's first four years people had plenty of anecdotal evidence to label bush as stupid. can you name as many public gaffs that appear to arise from sheer stupidity that clinton had? His term was just as long.

Clinton is obviously a much better speaker than Dubya, but the media has also gotten a lot more predatory

Did Clinton have dozens of blogs ripping him every day? Maybe, but most people didn't know what weblogs were when Clinton was in office

Obama/Clinton/McCain is going to get it even worse imho

listen to a speech Bill Clinton made

listen to a speech Bush made

GWB also set records to making the least number of public addresses since the invention of the radio and most vacation days. Media being predatory? No.
B. Clinton is an amazing speaker, probably one of the best the modern world has seen. But you can tell things by listening to people - and Obama falls much closer to Clinton than to Bush. McCain too I think. It's really hard for a professional politician to beat GWB. srsly.

I heard a caller today make a great point that made me laugh.

How is that Obama can sit in that church for 20 years and not hear anything offensive, but hear a 20 second bush clip that doesnt even mention him, and find something offensive.

I thought it was funny.

"Newt Gingrich -- who today regularly invokes the "Chamberlain/appeasement" cliche for anyone who does not crave war with Iran -- denounced President Reagan's rapprochement with Gorbachev in 1985 as potentially "the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Chamberlain in 1938 at Munich." Don Rumsfeld -- who gave a controversial 2006 speech likening war opponents to 1938 appeasers (and used the same 1939 quote as Bush just used from the U.S. Senator who wanted to talk to Hitler) -- has been tossing around the Chamberlain insult in order to promote his pro-war views for almost 30 years. The Associated Press reported on November 26, 1979 on efforts to oppose ratification of the SALT treaty:

"Our nation's situation is more dangerous today than it has been any time since Neville Chamberlain left Munich, setting the stage for World War II," Rumsfeld said at a news conference."
