I just got an email!

Quote :
"
This is my new email for while I'm in ODS. The first two week are over and it was pretty tough. The first week we hardly did any PT but I've only been getting 4 hours of sleep a night. They put me in the remedial group for PT because I didn't get a "good" on my test. So now I have to do 100 pushups and 200 situps a day ... WOW. So think of that the next time you don't feel like going to the Y!!!

Our instructor is Senior Chief Arnold. She's really on top of things. Someone dared me to ask Senior Chief if we could order a pizza this weekend. She said no :-( We're not allowed to eat sweets or anything.

My room actually has a great view of the water, I can see sailboats and cargo ships cruising around. It's very relaxing. I'm so lucky, the people on the other side of the hall only have a view of the side of a building. Hope things are good in Raleigh, write me back! XOXO"

"Hey XTNE, I have a funny story for you.

When we're marching and do facing movements, we say a ditty after the command. For a right or left face, the ditty is "cock-drive." Well today, Senior Chief told us not to say the ditties anymore, just do the movement. Everyone was lined up in the hall and when drill called "Right Face," guess who forgot we're not saying the ditties anymore.

Yep. Basically I yelled "COCK" in the middle of a silent and crowded hallway. LOL. "

Yes...she's a friend of mine

I have a similar story...

On the first day after inprocessing, when our drill instructors showed up, our senior drill instructor gave us a little speech to set the tone, set his expectations, and motivate us all to grow into hard-dick USMC killers...he closed by saying "...and remember this. I--don't--train--pussies."

Well, one afternoon after some field exercises, we were all sitting on our footlockers, cleaning our rifles. Same thing with the platoon on the other side of the squadbay (seperated by a wall, except for a walk-through at one end). Things were quiet...hushed conversation, the click and clack of rifles being disassembled, assembled, and cleaned...

Well, our senior drill instructor came out and said something to us. I don't remember what. Then, before he left us alone to finish cleaning weapons, he--in a conversational tone--said "Hey, platoon...what do I not train?"

We all roared, "PUSSIES, PLATOON SERGEANT!"

Well, the platoon next door obviously heard nothing that was happening on our side except for 40+ dudes shouting "PUSSIES, PLATOON SERGEANT" in unison. Equally obviously, they were totally unable to stifle their laughter. As a result, their senior DI--hands down the biggest asshole out of all of them--came out and thrashed them for about 20 minutes...throwing bunks, lockers, and officer candidates on their sides all down the squadbay and ensuring that they had an altogether miserable length of time as penance for their lack of discipline.

hahahaha

We got on-base liberty this weekend! I'm at the Internet cafe right now. TWW isn't blocked in our dorm computer lab, but I figure it's better to be safe.

ODS is definitely cake compared to OCS. We get to eat with a fork and everything. The other day I was waiting for a perscription and I talked to a few OCS folks. It was the first time I'd seen any of them smile or anything. Guess they're not just bald headed robots with awful glasses. As much as I feel like a weenie, it makes sense for our program to be easier. It's hard enough to convince lawyers or doctors to join the Navy - you get paid half as much as the real world and give up your freedom for four years in a time of war. But if you also had to go to OCS? Nobody would do it.

Most of the people at ODS are staff corps, we have a lot of JAGS and medical people. OCS is for natural born killers. ODS is for natural born litigators

No, I don't have to go through OCS. 4 1/2 years of ROTC is enough

Soon as I get my diploma, I'll get my commission. 17 December here at the Belltower.

Naw, I was banished from Nuke when the Admiral rejected me. Jerk.

I didn't even choose CruDes, though.

I'll be on a Frigate. Down in Jacksonville, so I'll be attached to 4th Fleet, chasing down drug runners and pirates.
