I am sure there is a way to bypass the new regime over there. For instance, set it up so the voting computer releases its IP 7/8/2008 2:11:48 PM |

What if we all ran the script? They couldn't not count the votes if hundreds of computers were mass voting. Then it would seem like since the round has gotten more intense the hardcore fans have came out in full force. I could run it from both my work and home computer. 7/8/2008 2:47:31 PM |

I guess. If I gave a shit about internet polls, I'd vote UNC's '57 team over State in '73. '73 State was a great team, but who knows what they were actually capable of. They could've lost in the first round for all we know.
Interesting fact: Lennie Rosenbluth (star of UNC's '57 championship team) wanted to play for Everett Case but Case took away his scholarship offer at the last second. Just think, we could have had Rosenbluth's and Maravich's jerseys in the rafters, along with a few more championship banners. Oh, what could have been.

Just talked to my friend who works at WRAL and one IP had 10000 votes come from it. So if you are that obvious they will just correct it. All you need to do is be more subtle about it. 7/8/2008 9:23:54 PM |

Well we were able to eliminate the Tar Heels once again. Job well done. The Final Four is 1991 Duke vs. 1992 Duke and 1973 State vs. 1974 State.

I agree with that except for the 82 UNC team. I picked them over that Duke team. I don't really know who was better of these teams, since they have most of the same players. I'm gonna say '73 though. 7/9/2008 12:32:52 PM |

The way they set up the brackets it looks like they were hoping to get 4 different teams in the Final Four.
'74 State against '74 Maryland on one end and '82 UNC against '92 Duke on the other.
Honestly...that's probably how it should have been. Pretty sweet matchups those would have been. 7/9/2008 12:45:59 PM |

some good info on 1974 state for those who dont know.
I knew the only loss was to the UCLA mega-dynasty, but it's interesting to note it was only the 3rd game of the season.
Also, for the team to average 91.4 ppg is insane, because there was no 3 point line. Thats just ridiculous
^ and I agree that too many casual fans discount '74 maryland.. they were top dawgs and could have easily won the ncaa if we didnt beat them in triple OT in the greatest game of all time

im afraid that someone is skewing it too much and many of the results wont count, and that perhaps the race is much closer than it seems 7/10/2008 2:39:59 PM |

well none of it really counts. it's a poll on the website of a local news station, and a bad local news station at that. 7/10/2008 2:42:07 PM |

'74 team didn't go undefeated. '73 team.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here....
'73 team beat UCLA in the regular season and went undefeated throughout but didn't get to go to tourney because of recruiting violations with Thompson.
'74 team lost an extremely close game with UCLA in the regular season and then beat them in the final four to break their title run and then Marquette in the finals?? And their only loss was to UCLA that year. Basically meaning that they went undefeated in the ACC for two straight years?? Pretty fucking impressive. 7/10/2008 3:15:44 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
You're right except that the loss to UCLA in '74 wasn't close. It was the third game of the season and UCLA won by 20 or so. 7/10/2008 3:18:11 PM |
