Haha... TWW is the LAST place that I'd go if something major happened in my life... I know some people on here but why the hell anyone concerns a bunch of randoms who make it a point to make fun of everyone/everything with their personal issues is still beyond me... and I've been on here for like 6 or 7 years..

I find it funny that earlier this year Kiwi was slamming silchairsm for getting accidentally knocked up by a new boyfriend and then married all in like a month's span.

You know she's hoping no one remembers that.

I realized today that yes, I do look down on the majority people who allow an extramarital unplanned pregnancy to occur.

In cases like [user]theduke866[user]'s (and wasn't there another user who is a father, despite pill + condom? nighthawk, maybe?), it's pretty clear no one is at fault there. The only blame you can place on them is for having sex, and that would be unreasonable to do.

I know that not getting knocked up is important enough to me that were I on the pill or patch, we'd still be using a condom. And since that wasn't an option, that's why I did what I had to do to get an IUD - which has the same effective rate as tubal ligature, and unlike the pill and patch, the effectiveness isn't adversely affected by user error.

Basically, it boils down to 'are you willing to do what it takes to not get a surprise baby? No? Then yeah, that's trashy and shows a deplorable lack of responsbility'

Unplanned pregnancies in a stable marriage: not so bad, because you have the standing committment of marriage and a healthy framework for the pregnancy and birth and childhood to occur. You have an incredible source of support in your spouse that you don't have in many other surprise pregnancies.

Unstable marriage? I'd be acting like we aren't married, in terms of making damn sure I don't get pregnant.

And when it comes times for the birds and the bees talk with my kids, despite how sexually open my mate and I are, it will be in a 'when a man and his wife love each other...' framework. It's another instance where I can incorporate long-term planning and personal responsibility.

Laugh at a little ? Sure

Look down on? Not so much. I have zero clue as to what makes others happy. Sometimes the best things are surprises (like brett favre not really retiring).

No, I really do take a dim view of someone who won't ensure their own financial stability (as pointed out before, kids are a major financial drain), and isn't responsible enough to make sure they don't get knocked up at a bad time.

I'm not saying surprise kids are inherently bad.

But really...not taking the precautions to not get unexpectedly pregnant indicates that just maybe you aren't responsible enough to care well for offpspring.

I guess if you personally knew someone whose parents were 18 when she was born who currently live in a 700,000 home having struggled their entire lives to get through college while raising a child you would feel how i do.

I admit I probably have encountered the one case where things went "right". I'm hoping this will be the only case I encounter (plz dear god dont let me have a daughter).

I was a case that went right

Also, birth control these days is a lot better than the options available to our parent's generation. It'd be a lot harder 20-25 years ago to make the argument that 'it's not that hard to not get pregnant, folks'

I kid you not that if I had to be on a pill or patch today, and didn't have the IUD available, we'd use condoms nearly every time.

1) thus far

2) If one is in a situation where one in a situation where one can fund both education and retirement funds from the beginning, there are some significant losses down the road, in interest and what have you.
There are other things when they get older to consider, as well, like perhaps a car for them, braces, school supplies, food for ravenous teenage boys , etc. For some people, minimal costs, relative to their income. For some people, it's a major strain.

when you're someone like Kiwi, who has in the past elected to go on a shopping spree for clothing, and then had to ask a bf to make that month's car payment for you...well, call it a hunch that a kid will end up causing some financial stress, since mom won't even take care of herself.

Note that the tidbit about the car payment came in the form of 'fuck...i knew i wouldn't see that moeny again' from an ex
