That's what the vocalist from Failed Séance and Grotesque Butchery does. He hardly uses his throat and for parts when he does, he drinks OJ before shows to coat his throat with flem so it wont' damage his shit.

It is actually the same singer throughout and he is saying "Those who run will be burned"

If you keep listening to metal you will get use to the screaming and start to appreciate it when it is done right.

Current listener for life.

I'm more of a metal-core/screamo kind of guy, but anything "hardcore" metal generally appeals to me - BTBAM, KillWhitneyDead, old A7x , Killswitch, and Underoath, Demon Hunter, to name a few you'll find on my MP3 player.

Dethklok was a suprisingly awesome show. Saw them in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago, had a great time. I'm not a huge Metalocolypse fanboy or anything, I just went to see what all the fuss was about and I could get in for free. Well exceeded my expectations

As far as death/black metal vocals it's like anything else...with lots of practice you can do them well and without hurting your voice. When I first joined my band there was a lot of gagging, coughing, and sometimes puking involved. But the more I did it, not only did my through become more tolerant of it but I learned how not to use your actual vocal cords as much. That's why they call them gutturals...it all comes from your gut.

I can keep it up through a three-hour practice with only minimal strain on my vocal cords, I can talk pretty much normally after a show or practice.

Need to throw some Undying in tomorrow while I do domesticated stuff like furniture shopping.

in the late 80's I used to go to this club on Detroit Ave in Cleveland OH that had all-ages shows, and I'd see bands like Anthrax, Necros, Megadeth, Overkill, Slayer, Metal Church, Black Flag, Danzig, DRI, S.O.D., Suicidal Tendencies, Exodus, Flotsam and Jetsam, Manowar, King Diamond ... other lesser known bands i cant recall.

we didnt call it hardcore. i guess we thought of it mostly as "speed metal" or "thrash metal" back then. some of the more punk bands we thought of as "punk metal" or "fusion"

but we were mostly stoned or tripping high schoolers so its not like we really knew WTF we were talking about.

genre references like "hardcore" should really be prefaced with a 5-7 year qualifier, every generation has its own definition

and of course "generation" is just as vague

it's all elitist masturbation
