1) There aren't any ECU fans on here gloating about their CUSA championship, and
2) We are missing out on the fun of letting them know Skip took a better job. 12/7/2008 4:13:14 PM |

Oh yes they only get fired because they are black.....not because Willingham couldn't even win a game at Washington.....or Croom didn't improve MSU.....or Prince ran KSU into the ground after Bill Snyder built a quality program. 12/10/2008 6:28:04 PM |

haha that's not what I meant.... The race card will be pulled as new white coaches are hired, just like whitey who replaced Croom..... DeWayne Walker will be the next black coach hired, after that I have no clue. 12/10/2008 6:46:27 PM |

i don't want him as our coach, and i don't really like his system of redshirting everyone. his commodity is already starting to dwindle. if he has another season next year like this year's, he won't be getting interest from the auburns of the world. i don't think it's his fault, he's at wake forest, but if he wants to leave he should do it now.
oh are you talking about what i said about him in regards to tennessee? yeah, tennessee would not be kind to him.

Perhaps Gene Chizik was the only guy that Auburn interviewed that didn't turn down the job. Who else would want to follow Tuberville? He set the bar impossibly high and that still wasn't good enough for Auburn. 12/14/2008 8:07:04 AM |

Just goes to show ya that you shouldn't fire a good coach unless you have a backup plan.
I see the Auburn football hire kinda like our basketball hire...on paper, it has everything, but with neighbors like Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc. it makes it extremely tough, and most coaches do not want that kind of pressure nowadays. 12/14/2008 8:26:05 AM |

Maybe Gil is holding out for a better job where the fans/boosters/AD aren't as short sighted. Auburn is a great job on paper, but realistically its coaching career suicide. 12/14/2008 3:36:23 PM |

the fallout from Chizik is stunning
guy tracked down the Auburn AD at the airport and heckled him:
Quote : | "Freshman Iowa State receiver Darius Darks:
"I understand business is business, but this man lied. At a team meeting, he was sitting there saying 'I told your mother, Jerrod Black, and I sat on your auntie's couch, Darius Darks, and I told her I would take care of you while you was up here at Iowa State.' Where's that n---- at now? Auburn University."" |

I think the Chizik hire is terrible. How do you run out a guy that's basically owned his rival, only b/c he's had one bad year? I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Gill land at ISU. He took over a big challenge at UB, and if he turned ISU around and just simply got them to bowls consistently he'd look great. He knows the Big XII and the recruiting area, plus he could dip down into Texas and get the guys that Texas, A&M, and OU pass on, which isn't really all that bad when you consider the kind of talent that is in that state. 12/15/2008 11:03:32 AM |

I think this hire will FAIL
Auburn had their eye on two solid candidates: Paul Johnson and Jimbo Fisher
Wil Muschamp would have been a great hire
Turner Gil would have been a great hire
what about bringing back BARRY SWITZER or JIMMY JOHNSON 12/15/2008 12:37:38 PM |

Herb got a 50% raise, and got to go to a place where they don't take basketball as serious and he could get a fresh start. We did not fire Sendek, and had Fowler given him a 50% raise after the way we ended that season then he would have probably been fired or had a mob turn his car over. 12/15/2008 1:26:22 PM |
