Lived in NC all my life, don't really think of myself as a southerner. The identity just doesn't fit.

Yes and Yes. Born in Charlotte, brief stint in Wilkesboro, lived in Greensboro from age 3 to 18, Raleigh ever since then. I may not be the typical Southerner; I don't have much of an accent (parents both born in NYC and grew up in North Jersey), I'm definitely a city boy, I don't hunt and you'll never see me with a confederate flag. But I *do* love biscuits, NC BBQ, sweet tea, watch NASCAR every now and then, and identify in other ways with the South. It's where I'm from and it's part of who I am.
