Improved diplomacy could shape Bush's legacy
Improved relationships with Europe a welcome sight

Bob Geldof in Rwanda gives Bush his props

Quote :
"Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement.

Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, 'has done more than any other president so far.'

'This is the triumph of American policy really,' he said. 'It was probably unexpected of the man. It was expected of the nation, but not of the man, but both rose to the occasion.'

'What's in it for [Mr. Bush]? Absolutely nothing,' Mr. Geldof said.

Mr. Geldof said that the president has failed 'to articulate this to Americans' but said he is also 'pissed off' at the press for their failure to report on this good news story.

'You guys didn't pay attention,' Geldof said to a group of reporters from all the major newspapers."

Bono Compliments Bush

Quote :
"Bono, the Irish rock star turned global gadfly, once said that Mr. Bush has done 'an incredible job' with his AIDS campaign. As it nears the end of its first five years, it has put 1.4 million people on life-sustaining therapies at a cost to the U.S. of more than $15 billion. The Bono-affiliated ONE campaign broadened its praise last month, saying Mr. Bush deserves credit for his fights against malaria and extreme poverty in the region. The White House hopes the trip will lock in congressional support for his initiatives, particularly as he is seeking a doubling of funding for combating AIDS to $30 billion over the next five years."

"Bush is a great president. As the years go on history will look on him better and better - as soon as the liberal media hype slims down.

There were several terrorist incidents during the Clinton era because democrats have a habit of bending over and/or turning the other cheek. There was one during Bush's term - he answered and brought war to the terrorists. A+.

A lot of the problems we're having today are not Bush's fault. Partially because the President actually doesn't have that much power to change internal affairs. Mostly because of decisions that were made 8-10 years ago. If you want to blame anybody for our current economic status, blame democrats for opposing regulation on GSE's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs&feature=related

I'm very, very proud to have been sworn in under George W. Bush. I will begin supporting Obama as soon as he takes his oath (read: I will not agree with him, only defend him as my President) and I can only hope he doesn't screw things up during his years badly enough that we can't fix it."

A++

I can do whatever I want.

And if people think the legacy of a president who was in term during a foreign relations and economic disaster will "get better over time"....then pass the fucking doobie.

Or just keep blaming it on past presidents...

watch out, tww is SO serious, you better follow the rules of this thread!!

anyway i don't think this is real but it makes me laugh:

Quote :
"A moment I’ve been dreading. George brought his ne’re-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I’ll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they’ll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.

I didn't make any of those claims. It's the fucking internet...and to boot, it's fucking chit-chat. Actually, you're probably the one that that is so "daring" and "important" to think you could make a GWB appreciation thread and have it stay "clean." You probably made the thread just to start arguments anyways. So why don't you chill out, sit down, and pet your GWB doll and relax a little.

Shit, I didn't even say GWB sucks. I honestly can't get around to hating the guy because he seems so damn helpless. It's like getting mad at the shitty athlete on the football team for not making the big catch....what did you expect??

And quit blaming the "liberal media." GWB gave them the ammunition...and shit, even loaded the gun and aimed it for them. All they had to do was pull the trigger.

I don't love bush. I am however, intelligent enough to know what he is to blame for, and what you can't blame him for. Unlike these Bush haters, who only know one of several phrases, with one of their favorites being, "It's Bush's fault."
