Normally the snow is everywhere BUT where I live. That or my county ends up on the fucking pink line of shit that represents "wintery mix", meaning that we're going to get watery snow/slush with sheets of ice under it.

me too...

Also, I bet this will be 1/10 or 10x the amount predicted by the weathermen...

Yeah, that's the deal with NC

A shift of a few miles can cause big differences. You guys can give forecasting a whirl, though.

I don't understand a lot of what they say here but it looks like a lot depends on how far west the low comes. If it stays east and gets a lot of cold air it could turn out to be interesting. Accuweather has got themselves pretty excited over this storm but I'm sure it's much more so for the northeast.

http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=RAH&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off

EVENTUAL POTENT STORM FOR THE NORTHEAST UNITED STATES WILL BE
DEVELOPING IN THE GULF OF MEXICO MONDAY MORNING. AS THE STORM
INTENSIFIES AND MOVES NORTHEAST TOWARD NORTH CAROLINA... RAIN MAY
DEVELOP NEAR THE SOUTH CAROLINA BORDER BEFORE NOON MONDAY. THE LOW
LIFTS NORTH OF OUR AREA BEFORE MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT... USHERING
IN STRONG COLD AIR ADVECTION. ANY PRECIPITATION FALLING BEHIND THE
EXITING SURFACE LOW IN THE WEST PIEDMONT WILL BE FROM MID AND
UPPER LEVEL DYNAMICS AND QUICKLY CHANGE TO SNOW. BY MID TO LATE
MORNING TUESDAY... ANYTHING FALLING WOULD BE SNOW.

HOWEVER THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS. THE ABOVE SCENARIO IS BASED ON
A SURFACE LOW TRACKING UP THE COASTAL PLAIN. A MORE WESTWARD TRACK
WOULD BRING MORE WARM AIR INTO CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA INITIALLY...
DELAYING A TRANSITION TO WINTER WEATHER. IT SEEMS ASSURED THAT ALL
THE PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE SURFACE LOW WILL BE RAIN...
AND AMOUNTS COULD EASILY EXCEED ONE INCH NEAR AND EAST OF THE TRACK.
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS BEHIND THE SURFACE LOW WILL BE MUCH MUCH SMALLER
BUT SNOW RATIOS IN THIS AIR MASS COULD APPROACH TWENTY TO ONE. HOWEVER
EVEN THIS WOULD PERHAPS BE NO MORE THAN ADVISORY CRITERIA...AND
NOT NECESSARILY ALL AREAS. PRECIPITATION BEHIND THE SURFACE LOW
WOULD BE CLOSELY TIED TO ANY SHORT WAVE ENERGY LIFTING NORTHEAST
AROUND THE BASE OF THE UPPER TROUGH. TIMING SUCH WAVES BEYOND 24
TO 36 HOURS IS FANTASY.

BEST ADVICE IS TO MONITOR THIS SYSTEM FOR WINTER PRECIPITATION AS
EARLY AS MONDAY NIGHT... WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THE ABOVE FORECAST WILL
CHANGE...FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

THE TRACK TIMING AND STRENGTH OF THE SURFACE LOW WILL OBVIOUSLY HAVE
A PROFOUND IMPACT ON TEMPERATURES. THE CURRENT FORECAST WILL HAVE
SUNRISE HIGH TEMPERATURES TUESDAY WITH READINGS FALLING INTO THE
UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S DURING THE DAY. AS TO WHETHER TEMPERATURES
START THE DAY IN THE 30S OR THE 40S (OR EVEN 50S SOUTHEAST) WILL
DEPEND ON THE SURFACE LOW.

AT THIS TIME LOW TEMPERATURES FORECAST IN THE 30S SUNDAY AND MONDAY
NIGHT THEN 20 TO 25 BEHIND THE FRONT. HIGH TEMPERATURES 45 TO 55
MONDAY THEN TEN DEGREES COOLER FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.

WRAL currently has it getting down to 35 overnight from Sat -> Sun with highs on Sunday close to 50.

23 overnight from Sun -> Mon, getting up to the mid 40s. Hopes not up.

Model runs seem to be more and more similar. Current indications are 4-8 inches Sunday night into Monday.

^^GFS, NAM, ECMWF, Canadian (though slower)

The caveat being you're still 48 hours away from a possible snow event in NC in March.

I wouldn't be making plans based on this, yet.

Isn't early March typically the time of year that NC historically gets winter weather most often? Or am I drunk?

im pretty sure it snowed in March of 04, and one of the biggest snows this area ever got was in march during the mid-80's.

Nothing in March 04.

That's from March of '83, but I'd hardly call it the largest we ever got. Not even close, really.

Now, March of 1980 was impressive. Wouldn't you like to be at Roanoke Rapids?

...Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through
Monday morning...

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Winter Storm
Watch...which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through mid
morning on Monday.

A potent upper level disturbance will move across the region
Sunday through Monday. Precipitation across the watch area
will be all rain early Sunday morning. The rain is expected to
change to a mix of sleet and freezing rain from west to east
across the area Sunday afternoon... before changing over to all
snow late Sunday afternoon into the evening. Snow may become heavy
at times during the overnight hours... with snowfall totals of 3
to 5 inches possible by Monday morning
... along and west of the
U.S. Highway 1 corridor.

Travel may become treacherous on Sunday night as temperatures fall
below freezing and snowfall begins to accumulate on area roads and
highways.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel. People
across the area should continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

I just told my fiance like a week ago that this might be the first time in a long time that I have gone through a winter without one day of measurable snow accumulation, at least to the point where everything is covered substantially. And then it snowed all afternoon and evening here in SC (still is).
