Probably recovering from surgery when I was seven. Unfortunately they gave me morphine for the pain, which they then discovered I was allergic to. I was actually fine during most of it, but going under the knife was the biggest risk I've ever really taken with my body (though otherwise I'd probably would've ended up losing a kidney). Thankfully I've never been in a bad car accident or anything.

Artillery shell exploded 100m out of the tube (when I was in the National Guard) I couldnt hear for a day, had a concussion and have no idea how I wasn't hit with shrapnel, as just about everything around me was.

i've never come close to dying

but i've had a couple of instances where i probably could have


1) running full speed into a steel bar, head first...falling backwards and banging my head on the concrete...then getting up and falling face first into the concrete again hitting the same spot that i banged with the steel bar

2) getting shot at

i think i was fixing to start college when the other one happened....and it wasn't interesting...

Junior year I was riding to a kegger with 5 friends down Trailwood. Problem was, car only hasd 5 seats so I volunteered to sit in the back hatch area of the Mercedes SUV. The other problem was a 16 year old girl ran a stop sign, T boned us, and our car flipped 5 times. On the first roll the impact crushed the hatch and the tail door released, shooting me out the back and into a ditch. Next thing I know im in the ER.

We all lived - but that was a little too close.

Once when I was 5 or 6, I climbed up on the woodpile behind my house so that I could jump over the electric fence that runs across the top of our 5' chain-link fence. Being the particularly bright kid I was, I tapped the fence quickly to make sure it wasn't on. Since I didn't get shocked, I figured it was alright to grab the wire and hold it down while I jumped down from the wood pile to the ground on the the other side of the fence.

Turns out the fence WAS on and by grabbing it with my hand (instead of just touching it) my arm locked up and I couldn't let go of the fence. About all I can remember after that is "OW OW OW OW ow ow ow ow numb numb numb kinda tingles.......fuzzy... black"

From what I'm told my mom ran out after the first few seconds on screaming and ran over and disconnected the fence. I must have been out for a couple seconds, but damn thats scary to think of what could have happened if noone was home.

i thought of another one, maybe

we were playin football on the IM fields and this big guy, Chase, had caught a pass and I was defending him. I had wrapped my arms around his leg for a tackle but he shook it loose and in the action of trying to break the tackle, he inadvertently stomped down on my throat. I feel like he coulda broke my trachea if he was an inch higher up on my neck...
