some people actually enjoy driving for the sake of driving. passing people or not. I could never drive anything less powered then what I have now because then driving would become boring again.

^however many up

The point is that you were all about this performance care and then you bought an IS250 because Lexus was better able to negotiate on price. The only problem with that is that I would put the IS250 with a 328 and the IS350 with the 335.

Soooo, still wussed out and went with the weaker one.

Yeah you do have a point. But seriously what kind of idiot would go from an EVO MR to a 328i.

That is like jessica biel to rosie odonnell....or is it the other way around?

I totally agree that IS250 matches up better with the 328 and that is why I went with the lexus over BMW.

I "WANTED" performance in the 335 but unfortunately you can't always have what you want and I couldn't afford it. Thus, I still wanted a luxury vehicle. I didn't want the 328 regardless of how comparable it is to the IS250...I liked the lexus better than the 328. If that makes me a wuss....so be it. When I have a little more discretionary cash, I'll get my 335....

There were two that I liked...one was $54k and the other was $50k

you guys have to realize that although I'm in this forum...I'm NOT a total car freak. So yes, for a car enthusiast perhaps I appear crazy. But for a young female professional, I'd say I went with a pretty good choice.

In terms of monthly payment, the 335 was $250 more and I just couldn't justify that.

holy hell!

what additional things did you have on it? i talked mine down to about $45k and mine is completely loaded except for the navigation system/idrive crap.

Both of them were pretty much fully loaded obviously and were coupes so that added an extra $1500. The $50k was already marked down from $53k

i cannot imagine paying $50k for a car unless I was making a couple hundred thousand per year.

^agreed, its a waste of resources that could be better spent elsewhere.

People are criticizing you for getting some whimpy Lexus (no offenese shmorri2) that can't hold a torch to the 328 or 335. Did you do any research at all before you even started looking for cars? I'd love to have a 335i, but I know I can't afford one. And if you really wanted one then have some patience and look around outside of your area as well as over a few months until you do find it.

Sounds to me that instead of a BMW you should have been looking at a Mercedes.

.328 has about 20 more HP than the IS250 and quite frankly, I didn't want a 328 to begin with. Part of the allure of the car was the speed. Let me say again...COULDN'T AFFORD $750 a month not to mention that was for a lease.

I did do my research, which is what led me to realizing that I couldn't afford it. I don't think waiting a few months would have made the difference. It's not that Raleigh dealerships didn't have a lower end model (hell I could have ordered it) it's that I wanted a fully loaded car.

The fully loaded lexus was significantly more affordable.

and Ugh, I hate mercedes

Now...can i be finished defending myself and someone be freaking happy for me that I got a new ride. Sheesh

(welll the 328 is still worlds faster than the IS 250 given that its lighter and can be had with a manual transmission)

We can't be happy about your new car, unless its red. If thats the case, there's an appropriate thread for it

Wrong-o.

ES350 = camry blah blah blah

And btw jesgani, did you look at the IS350? That's a lot cheaper than the 335, and has similar performance (as far as what you/most people would be able to get out of it). Or for that matter, you could have had an Infiniti G35/G37 also for a lot cheaper than the 335, and again, the same performance.

So what was wrong with the 350? Couldn't justify the price increase over the 250? Outside and inside they are identical, but mechanically and performance-wise, worlds apart. Just saying, because you said you wanted performance. IMO, the 250 is slow.

haha, no problem. The wife and I wanted a very nice luxury car and performance was definitely not a deciding factor here. If it were, I'd have gotten the bmw (even if it were just the 328i)

And look, here's my post on the IS350 below:

http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=554711

If you read it, you'll understand that going to a 350 from a 250 is ~$8k more because Lexus decided to make a few options standard now (ie: navigation).

IMO, it's pretty accurate and would sum up the car quite well. If performance is in any way a deciding factor for this vehicle, then you should pass on the Lexus altogether. The 250 isn't slow by any means (imo), it's just not one of the fastest luxury cars in it's class.

Not to get too personal, however, if one could not afford $750/mo, then what difference does it really make if one is making a $600/mo payment? I know it's only $150/mo difference, but really... that's like pushing it, unless you've already factored in other expenses and that's just play money... IMO, if you are already spending that kind of money, I don't understand why one couldn't wait to save a few more months and put a d/p on the vehicle to lower payments. Don't settle on a car, you'll just regret it later when you have to eat the negative equity when you trade it in because you change you mind later to get a vehicle you do like/want.

The IS platform is not Camry related. So get off lexus' nuts on the whole "glorified toyota" b.s. Ignorance is annoying. (I've been gettin that shit a lot lately).

Enjoy your new car, but be aware that not buying a BMW when that option is on the table will get you castigated on this forum.

Hell, in 4 or 5 years when i buy a Porsche 911 someone on this site will tell me I was stupid for not buying an M3, M5, or M6 instead (for various reasons, none based on experience).

I have to be honest, I can't ever see myself buying a car without navigation ever again. It's just so damned convenient and nice, although Idrive sucks so hard I can understand why people don't get it on Beamers.

You've mistaken this forum for C&D. Most people in here have higher opinions of Porsches than BMWs, we just talk about BMWs more b/c they're more within most people's reach.

BY that logic you're wrong. Cadillac was ACQUIRED by General Motors. Acura and Lexus (and Infiniti) were CREATED in house by Honda, Toyota and Nissan.

You guys sound like a bunch of typical BMW forum fags, arguing about manual versus auto. It isn't a damn Ferrari.....its a fucking BMW. Nothing special at all about a 335i........who gives a crap. I wouldn't buy one, but if I was given one.......I'd choose an auto. I like being able to hold my beer......the BMW cupholders are too fragile for my malt.
