Well I think this will sum it up pretty accurately:

If you thought the trailer looked stupid: you probably won't think the movie is any good.

If you were still interested in seeing the movie after watching the trailer: you will probably enjoy the movie on a 7+/10 scale.

"BS. This is nearly as much of a scientific stretch as that movie. I am not much of a disaster movie fan (some friends are though, which is why I went) so my criticism may not matter to you, but this movie was boring. 4/10 from me. The disasters are entertaining if you turn off your brain, but that gets old after awhile."

No shit it's a stretch because it's never happened. obviously...Because you don't like disaster movies you probably went in thinking it was gonna suck. The point of this movie is to entertain, not inform you prick.

I liked the whole disaster part for the first few hours, but the climax was fucking dumb

John Cusack only works in comedies where he narrates and breaks the 4th wall

High Fedelity was his last good movie

Anyone like how his name was Jackson Curtis?

Made me chuckle.

^^^ I understand that these kinds of movies are a stretch. I don't go in expecting reality. My comment wasn't so much directed at the movie's "reality," rather I was completely and singularly responding to your statement that all these events were actually scientifically possible.

The fact that they, at least in the form carried out in the movie, are not did not actually negatively affect my enjoyment of the movie. I already explained that, after the initial disaster excitement wore off, it felt long and lacked a strong climax.

And ^^, yea, for the most part. I kinda liked Runaway Jury.

Anyway, I'm peacing out. I'm not trying to convince anyone not to see the movie or anything so theres no need to continue to clutter the thread to retrace the same steps.

Probably the prediction least likely to come true ITT

I think people may be overthinking this movie. The events aren't supposed to make sense. You're supposed to turn your brain off and enjoy the explosions, while completely ignoring the terrible acting and plot.

zomjesus, the neutrinos are coming.

lol at outrunning cold in day after tomorrow. like somebody else said if you know better you'll have to ignore the science, but it wasn't a terrible movie.

what do you guys think was the most implausible part of the movie, other than the basic premise??

I think it was that an electric cord could completely stop the massive reduction gears for that ark. also that there would be a camera in that room. also that the room is called the "hydraulics room" and I didn't see any hydraulics in there

this thread has run its course, and its for a movie that is hardly worth it. please simply let it die of natural causes so that myself and the other unfortunate souls who have seen this movie can forget about it sooner than later.

I thought that was unrealistic, but I think it was actually the drill or whatever that was blocking the gears, which at least makes a little more sense than the cord
