12/25/2008 11:56:00 PM
Did somebody say RPG?
12/25/2008 11:57:06 PM
we don't allow blacks in my neighborhood. when they move in we burn lower case t's in their front yard. you know, for "time to leave".
12/25/2008 11:57:21 PM
I'm not worried about people based on their racebut I do think I deserve the ability to defend myself, loved ones and my homeI guess if I wasn't a coward I'd learn mixed martial arts and catch home intruder's bullets with my teeth, spit them back at them killing them instantly... then maybe spin kick them before they hit the ground
12/26/2008 12:02:17 AM
I'd learn martial arts if I had the money. I'd love that.
12/26/2008 12:02:49 AM
If you break into someone's home then it's pretty safe to assume that you are not doing so with good intentions. Robber's who break into a home, especially one that is occupied, deserve any misfortune they get. That includes being shot by the home owner, who has every right to defend himself, his family, and his property. If you don't want to be shot, don't be a burglar. People who think it is acceptable to steal don't deserve the same kind of considerations as the rest of the populace.PS - buy the Mossberg
12/26/2008 12:05:03 AM
I wish the laws were written that way.
12/26/2008 12:06:25 AM
its not just about "burglars"not everyone that breaks into homes wants to steal from yousome are rapistssometimes a guy dressed as Santa Clause comes to your Xmas party and starts shooting little kids and burning the joint downhttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/26/us/26Santa.html?_r=1&hpjust one person CC'ing could have put an end to this
12/26/2008 12:08:07 AM
They still are in some places, and yes, they absolutely should be.
12/26/2008 12:08:11 AM
Well in good old NC someone has to be threatening your life before you can even pull your gun out. Fucking dumb.
12/26/2008 12:15:17 AM
Yeah, but if they're dead it's sort of your word against theirs.
12/26/2008 12:17:27 AM
I had a remington 870 for a while and it shot very well. If I had to buy a new shotgun I would buy one again. It just didnt feel like a very well built shot gun. I now have an Ithaca 37 that is older (20 years or so)but I feel like it is better built, machined parts vs. stamped, has much less recoil and was around $120 with so-so wood and a 19" barrel. Also I like the bottom ejecting system as I shoot long guns lefty.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ithaca_37

12/26/2008 12:19:27 AM
The Mossberg is machined out of a solid block.I figured if I killed someone i'd search them for a weapon them put it in their hands.
12/26/2008 12:24:31 AM
the model 870 receiver is machined from a steel billet(block??) as well.
12/26/2008 9:04:31 PM
i have an 870 and looked at 500s before i purchased, and the pump mechanism on the 870 felt a little more soild to me than the 500. just my opinion.
12/26/2008 10:08:00 PM
I guess I should have been more specific. All the recievers on the 3 guns in question have solid machined recievers. It the other small parts that cocerm me and makes the entire firearm feel more sturdy. My thought was if you wanted a nice shot gun you could get a "better"(IMO) shotgun for near half the money. If you want to check out my Ithaca PM me and I will be happy to set up a time and place for us to meet up. My personal opinion is that is the best built out the other two in question. If you really want a new gun then all I have experience with is the 870 witch shot very well just felt cheap compared to the Ithaca. Just thought I would throw a third option in for ya at a considerably lower cost. Or you could but my Browing Gold hunter and have a super nice gun, with almost no recoil and looks like fine piece of artwork.
12/26/2008 10:15:13 PM
How much a month for the gold hunter?
12/26/2008 10:17:23 PM
$20 a day for 30 days.
12/26/2008 10:20:19 PM
I wonder if at the end that would be convenient or annoying?
12/26/2008 10:49:30 PM
I asked my Dad for his 870 so I can go hunting with friends of my gf'sthey're in their 50's and duck hunt in Rhode Island
12/26/2008 10:58:00 PM
I sported the 870 today. I might break out the Ithaca tomorrow.

Some questions for those of you who bought pump action shotguns for home defense - what was the main reason for deciding to buy a pump? Was it price? Had you been shooting a pump from a very early age? Have you shot it some to get comfortable with the action?[Edited on December 26, 2008 at 11:47 PM. Reason : I have owned both a 590 and an 870. I wouldn't let my life depend on either one of those shit guns.]
12/26/2008 11:44:03 PM
I would go with the 870. I've got one and it's jammed on me three times after maybe 300 shots or so. those were handloads loaded by a good friend of mine who has berzerker strength and likes using it by setting his stops a little low and jamming the living crap out of the crimps and buckling the shell walls
12/27/2008 12:27:55 AM
my friend got a 30 ought 6 and its awesome[Edited on December 27, 2008 at 12:30 AM. Reason : lol guns]

I like shotguns' simple point-and-click interface
12/27/2008 12:48:20 AM
12/27/2008 12:54:11 AM
not to mention the PORN-STAR RECOIL
12/27/2008 2:35:08 AM
I'll have to consider that golden trigger

Buy yourself a shit 870 from a pawn shop. Send it to Wilson Combat for their Remington Steal program. http://www.wilsoncombat.com/s_remingtion_steal.aspReceive a beautifully refitted shotty from them. I love the 870, but I carry a 500 for work. I've fired mostly Hatton (breaching) and rubber-ball rounds through it, with never a problem. My only advice is have a buttstock. Mine has only the pistol grip, but I fire it backed up against my trauma plate to absorb recoil. Without it that would suck.

the sound of a shotgun racking has a profound psychological effect on most peopleits a universal languagethe shotgun says "GTFO!"
12/27/2008 12:36:11 PM
^lol I was just discussing home defense weapons with someone this morning and said much the same thing. WTG Snewf! *racks a shotgun for effect*
12/27/2008 12:39:55 PM
if you don't have that motherfucker racked BEFORE you're in visual sight of your attacker, you're just asking to die. The point of a self defense weapon isn't to scare the assailant.if you want a sound to have a profound psychological effect on your assailant, then shoot him in the knees.
12/27/2008 12:59:06 PM
how many people have you killed, tough guy?must suck to be you - constantly under attack[Edited on December 27, 2008 at 1:03 PM. Reason : visual sight and ear shot aren't the same things]
12/27/2008 1:02:27 PM
i say neither since you don't deserve a permitI'm Big Business and i approved this message.
12/27/2008 1:05:13 PM
I'd say it sucks more to be you - you're just a scared gun loving liberal pansy that has to keep a shotgun in the house to sleep soundly at night, knowing you can rack it and try to scare people away. if the visual sight of a shotgun won't make someone turn around and run on it's own, racking it won't do any more. all you're doing by racking it is showing that they have reaction time on an unloaded shotgun.
12/27/2008 1:05:46 PM
12/27/2008 1:08:39 PM
I've slept pretty soundly without guns for my entire life
12/27/2008 1:12:31 PM
that's because you were drunk and/or stoned
12/27/2008 1:13:14 PM

12/27/2008 1:46:42 PM
If you want a deterrent, get an alarm, or a dog.
12/27/2008 2:13:49 PM
^both a good options for a deterrant.
12/27/2008 2:22:32 PM
