I think it should be noted. That for puppies-vaccinations are not debatable. All puppies should be given a complete puppy vaccine series for rabies and distemper/parvo. IN bordatella is really only effective for 6 months so it can be given on an as needed basis regardless of age.
So, depending on the vet...your puppy will receive 3 distemper/parvo vaccines on a 4 week rotation beginning at 8 weeks. And a rabies vaccine at 16 weeks and 1 year later. Very important!

^^^ Yes, absolutely. Puppies vacs are very needed, probably the most important of all, to give him/her the best start on life.
From my experience if that final DHLPP vaccine and the Rabies can be spaced out a week, do so. Those two will often occur on the same visit if you are on that standard schedule. It will reduce strain on the immune system as well as reduce possible reactions. If a reaction does occur when they are both given, it will be hard to determine which was the culprit. 1/15/2009 5:32:32 PM |

No shot that is in existence is vital for the survival or longevity of your pet. They are vital per the law, lol, but that's it.1/15/2009 6:44:42 PM |

There is nothing wrong with your shameless plug for the vet industry. That's cool. But a dog really only needs a shot once, and that's it. Every year is unnecessary for its actual effectiveness, but necessary per the state legislative body. I can't believe vet school are not telling you guys the truth about this, or maybe they are and you are just no admitting it. But yeah, if anyone knows where I can find a cheap vet is Raleigh so I won't have to keep taking my cats back to Ahoskie to the good rural vet that's mad cheap, I would give you an Eskimo kiss
FYI, the oldest vet in NC was my vet, but he died a few weeks ago. His name was Dr. James "Doc" Brown and practiced in Rich Square. All he was was a shack, no receptionist, and all that jazz, and was cheap, did great work, and really cared and would help the needy, if necessary. He was in his 90s, and had went home to see NC State (did his undergrad here) play some team, I think Auburn or Arkansas, and died while he was there. We need more of these people. 1/16/2009 8:30:52 AM |
