i mean yea you should PROBABLY inform your neighbors beforehand that you are having a party. but how hard is it to grow a pair and ask them to quiet down in the middle of it? instead of running to the cops like a cry baby. besides, won't the cops respect you more if you've already attempted to handle it yourself?

they do have better things to do than worry about noise complaints.

so no one has egged your door before, because you've never asked them to quiet down yourself. but IF they egged your door, you'd just call the cops, right?

* you didn't have the courtesy to tell me you were going to be a noisy ass, i'm not going to go out of the way to be polite
* i have to pay for the cops, i might as well use them

That's what made me upset. We TOLD neighbors AND invited them over to party with us. They were cool. Neighbors have confronted us before and party was promptly shut down. This is starting to be a clear case of people not completely reading the thread. I, personally, would have talked to the neighbors first, because calling the cops as a first resort on a Saturday night at 11 PM is a dick move. They would be saying the same shit if they were in our shoes (regardless of whether or not we got into trouble). I'm just saying, we are considerate of our neighbors, I wish y'all would stop acting like we weren't.

i have also been to a party and told to "fuck off" when i got there. i had to talk to 4 different neighbors over a year and it got really old. i wasnt being unreasonable at all either. encountering things like...
-bass that rattles my bed while im sleeping
-people upstairs screaming on the porch and stomping around the room
-bands playing with the windows open at 4am

it gets old...real quick.

Having loudass parties is inconsiderate. When other people in other apartments can hear you/your friends/your music, you're not thinking about other people. You're angry because your fun was ruined, and that's fine. Just accept that you deserved it.

You mentioned you and your roommates are all in technical majors, so you need a lot of quite time to study and whatnot. You get quiet time when you want it because no one around you is being inconsiderate. Shouldn't you respect when they want quiet as well? What if I was over there making your quiet time suck (yelling WOOOOO outside your window, playing music you hate, playing DDR (which I usually hate) in the room above you) then you'd get pretty pissed off pretty quick. And say you asked me to be quiet and I said ok, and then continued again a few days later. You even get the benefit of me being nice when you confront me, which is more than some people get. How many times do you walk upstairs before you just start calling the cops? I know what you're going to say, "I at least asked you first instead of just calling the cops, but you continued being an asshole." So instead I bring an asshole team and we just switch it up for a little while, so you don't ever have to ask the same person more than a couple times. You still ask every individual asshole to be quiet or do you eventually just call the cops?

Now think about the guy that lives next door working two jobs, taking 18 hours in classes, trying to make ends meat and all he wants is to go home and live in peace and quiet. You're all of a sudden ruining his quiet time, does he deserve that? Of course not.

"I'm going to be loud as hell Saturday night until I feel like it, you can come over if you want" is not an acceptable excuse for being loud as hell until whenever you want.

PS- I am starting a business where I annoy people who have loud asshole parties until they see what they are doing to people. We also help people who are timid confront loud assholes that live near them. I need applicants for the asshole team and business from anyone in the thread who has need of my services (PM me).

if you don't want the cops called on you, then move out of college apartments. When I lived off of South Saunders street, the 27 Mexicans that lived in the house across the street from me would drink and play loud music until 5AM every weekday, at which point they would all go to work. The cops never came to shut them down.

I love having fun. I figure loudness before midnight is ok (except when people sound like they're playing DDR above me, that just sucks). I also, on the other hand, go OUT when I want to party. Sure, it's a little more expensive, but offers infinitely better entertainment.

Starting in the spring, there're HUGE parties in Moore Square every other weekend, live bands, goes on until crazy late. I recommend them, when it gets that time again
