i dated a couple cute ee/cpe girls in my day

they're there.

they're usually just getting fawned over by 100 other dudes trying to hand them homework answers though, so you've got to wade through the masses

Seriously ENE and CEM has great ratios of Guy to Girls because the number of students is small to begin with and half of the students are female on top of that.

I've met more nerds in ME than CE. However, I graduated as a CE concentrating in Geotechnical. I get into discussions about soil, concrete, and construction materials for long periods of time with other friends in the same field. It doesn't sound nerdy or geeky in the same sense that I would describe someone in CSC.

Yeah I know. No one had mentioned Biological and Agricultural (which I am currently a grad student in) so I figured I would give a shout out and make it seem like someone agreed with me

EXACTLY. I think it's really sexy when a guy (an attractive guy, that is) can explain all kinds of cool, technicial shit.

Although they have a bunch of book smart, but sometimes lack the street smart.

depends on what industry said engineers are in.

most of the ones i know (in manufacturing, consulting) are highly into networking if only for job contacts and references

like the LinkedIn type of thing. that's engineering central, right there.

I dont know a single male TE. I know lots of female TEs.

Most EE/CPE ppl are pretty laid back (least i like to think myself so). CSCs never see the light of day, unless its through a window.

IE-> ask jessiejepp. thats her major. NE I only know 2 people in it, so Ive no idea really in general on it.

CHE has a shit ton of girls. Too bad most of them wont come next door to EB2 (They are in EB1).

i like it. a lot that's really cool. geography, culture, outdoor adventures, a lot of interesting people.

sometimes its annoying, and seems like a bunch of passive-aggressive whiny liberals getting uptight about petty bullshit.

in college i hung out with a lot of EE/CPE, since i was one. we all smoked pot all day long, drank all night, and have good social skills. it was wonderful. i'd say we were all nerds (e.g. seeing the porn that bender used on futurama was a circuit diagram made us laugh till we cried) but we weren't dorky.

I'd say EE/CPE is firmly set with everyone being a nerd but only 50% being super dorky and the other 50 being pretty damn legit.

I bite my thumb at engineering people

"good" social skills for them were asking someone their favorite aspect of the quadratic formula

I never met one who was the life of the party...they were content to huddle in the corner and argue whether the cel-shading in Zelda was a genius stroke by the developers or just them being lazy

You never partied with my younger brother. He's pretty much the life of a party and is currently in ME.

Note: I think I saw a picture of him eating cereal (and feeding others) out of a light fixture drunk off his ass at ThePeter's house.

The fact that you reference "cel-shading" and the Zelda series makes me think you're part of this group.

a lot of times I found that the biggest nerds were the most interesting at parties after a few drinks. They get that liquid courage and make the most out of it.

i for one do not fit the mold of a normal engineer. i have my dorky moments, and my knowledge about cars seems to impress some people, but in general i'm very social as anyone here who has met me can attest to.

Things you can't do with Engineers

-Have a Good Time

ha , discuss philosophy.

It's much more difficult to discuss philosophy with poli sci or religion majors than it is with engineers, imo

Yeah, but that's because poli sci/religion majors pretend to know what they are talking about and will yap your damn ears off with asinine bullshit. So even though the substance is fecal matter, it's still a discussion. Engineers simply don't understand the overall point or end goal, and will not contribute to the conversation.

I do too, I'm just having a good time by being overly critical. Although, some of my engineering friends think having a good time is going to radio shack.
