That's a joke, right? Cause I think that FBI agent dude that is looking for the Dollhouse is Alpha and doesn't know it. And his stalker neighbor chick is his handler or something. 3/2/2009 8:15:29 AM |

I thought Tudyk was still a rumor? I heard someone else from a previous Whedon show was going to show up later on, but can't remember who now...
Either way, I'm digging this show. They're growing exponentially awesomer... as I predicted and as is Whedon's pattern.
^^ Nah, not only do I think it's too predictable that he's Alpha, but she's not his handler. Or if she is, she's not a professional. We haven't seen anything going on with her except that she wants to get up on him No weird sly facial expressions or anything to imply there's something going on there. Whedon doesn't tend to do stuff like that - plus, all the major characters turning out to be actives would be stupid... that's BSG's thing

From that point on, the world unfolds in Joss’ way, with Joss’ speed, and it’s really remarkable." |

nope. Maybe FireFly could have been the best thing he did. The first 13 episodes showed promise, for sure, and had it taken the 6-season course he wanted, it probably would have been awesome. But as it stands, Firefly is the 3rd best thing he's done, at best. 3/4/2009 11:14:56 PM |

best one so far. except for the part where they just waltzed out of the vault. that was a cop-out.
I'm still not really clear on what the Actives know and don't know when they're activated.... and what their relationship is with their Handlers. I guess they're programmed to trust the handler, and also programmed to come back to the Dollhouse to get their "treatment", no questions asked? Also not always clear on who knows and who doesn't know she is an Active. Like, which of the guys she was robbing the place with knew who she was, and if none of them did know, who hired her then

yep, good stuff. It demonstrates how much more intriguing the show is when it focuses on plot and story, instead of just doing week-to-week "Echo is ___ this week" episodes.
I got a bit confused at one part though, then I read the write-up on TV Squad and got even more confused. When Echo was fighting Ballard out in the alley and it looked like she broke character for a second and did the "don't worry, we have a man on the inside" speech, wtf was she talking about. Was she supposed to say that? Was that "Echo" saying that, or whoever she was imprinted with?
and yeah, i didn't see the neighbor as being a sleeper agent

I'm digging the show, Whedon has done it again, and I'm intrigued about what he'll do next.
My only worry is if too many other people turn out to be sleeper actives. I don't like the neighbor being one. What next, Ballard is an active and was programmed by Alpha?
Overall, though, the show is great and this week's ep is proof. 3/23/2009 3:30:27 PM |

This show has really stepped up recently. For some reason, I'm finding this a trend with the fox shows. They start off slow, but then they start to get good once the plot begins to develop. I felt the same about Fringe, and now it's one of my favs. 3/23/2009 3:59:09 PM |

The Dollhouse technology seems to be rife with errors - something else goes wrong with them every week, but they still seem to have complete confidence in Topher, no matter how many things he screws up.... Seems to me they should look into bringing on another technician! 3/27/2009 11:10:43 PM |

It was nice to be able to see why some of them turned to the dollhouse to begin with. I still would like to know why Echo/Caroline turned herself over to them. The whole Victor-Sierra relationship was cute with him waiting for her and then wanting to help her the whole time. 4/4/2009 11:19:03 AM |

^ that was explained in the last episode. She was a college kid activist type who tried to bust into a facility of the parent company that funds the dollhouse. She and her boyfriend were caught. the boyfriend was shot, and she was captured. 4/5/2009 8:36:22 AM |

I meant to comment on this before, but they way they present the technology and topher, they act as if the created it all, and is the sole mastermind behind it.
But if this is one of 20 other dollhouses, I'd imagine there would be 20 other "tophers" and there would be some level of protocol and consistency in how the technology is managed, developed, updated, etc. (I guess that could be the Rossum corp.). Ultimately, you'd think there would be someone higher up the technical chain that oversees the technical side of things.4/6/2009 1:46:31 PM |

UPDATE
Quote : | "The Hollywood Reporter says that Fox is insisting that Dollhouse is not canceled after all. They just don't feel like airing the season finale. From Fox's standpoint, the network ordered 13 episodes of the show, and Joss shot two pilots. So if you count both pilots as episodes, then the 12 aired episodes complete Fox's order.
Apparently, the final episode which will air, "Omega," represents Joss' original vision for the end of the season, so we won't feel a lack of closure. But the actual unaired season finale, "Epitaph One," is directed by Joss himself and is his actual final statement. Worst of all, it's not actually certain that the episode will appear on DVD or elsewhere - nothing's decided yet, and Fox may decide not to pay for post-production on the episode.
Whedon's drhorrible Twitter account said:
It's true. Dollhouse ep 13 isn't going to air. This makes @feliciaday sad. How do you feel? Why don't share those feelings with FOX?" |

Quote : | "UPDATE, 3:38 p.m.: Spoiler alert! Just snagged ya'll some exclusive new info on "Epitaph One." A source whispers to me that "Epitaph One" comes from the writerly brains of Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. It's a totally non-finale-ish stand-alone episode, and—here's the crazy part—it's apparently set in the future, after the apocalypse, amidst total anarchy. And yes, I am describing an episode of Dollhouse, not a scene from Terminator. No word yet on where, when or how we might be able to see it if not on Fox, but just off the top of my head, Hulu, DVD/Blu-Ray and/or a special Comic-Con screening all come to mind. What sounds good to you?
Fox will not be airing the "13th episode" of Dollhouse, as tweeted by @drhorrible and @feliciaday. However, there appears to be some debate about what qualifies as a 13th episode and what qualifies as a season finale. Here's what we've sorted out about the end of Dollhouse...
Brace yourself, guys, because there's going to be math in this story.
Fox the television network ordered 13 episodes of Dollhouse. As everybody knows, they scrapped the original pilot, "Echo." So that is 13 less one, which brings us down to 12. The 12th and final episode that Fox the television network ordered and paid for and will air is called "Omega" and was written and directed by Tim Minear (who has told us he "can't wait" for us to see it). Focused on the Alpha storyline, sources say that "Omega" apparently "closes some doors and opens other ones" and was always intended to be and to effectively serve as the season-one finale. ("Omega" logline, if you're into that kind of thing: "Alpha's reign of terror continues as his obsession with Echo endangers Caroline's survival. Ballard must make a life-changing decision, and one Doll is permanently deactivated while another's shocking past is revealed.")" | [quote]

I don't believe them for a second. IMO, if you decide not to finish or air an episode of a show, you're going to cancel it almost every time. It follows the fox pattern pretty well, and whedon is again getting screwed by them. He shoulda known better. 4/10/2009 1:05:27 PM |
DPK All American 2390 Posts user info edit post |
What FOX says and does are always different. They say it's not cancelled, but wait until when next fall when mysteriously "problems" arise and they decide not to renew whatever contract, then the show gets scrapped completely.
I hate investing time with FOX shows. I always let myself get sucked in only to be screwed wanting more from a show later. 4/10/2009 1:10:50 PM |
