Twasnt really racing, just coasting around the other cars (seemingly) The thing is almost idleing in 6th gear at 90. Anyway, I agree - I was dumb....it is speed limit time and no crazy acceleration.

I do need to take it somewhere to learn the limits and how to be safer.

first fun reaction: My wife met a gf for dinner earlier tonight and they rode back to our house. The girl didn't know I had bought the car and I got my first OMG reaction and she literally jumped at the opportunity to take a ride. Made her day

uh that thing is "only" 450hp. he can floor that thing anywhere (with some common sense) and be perfectly fine, imo. Do you get your panties in a wad like that over 430hp corvettes?

Not a fair comparison, not only is the Viper a giant archaic pile of junk -that is rather incredibly bad at putting power down, the Corvette has a VERY advanced traction and stability control. There's a reason why such a high percentage of them that have been wrecked.

I've driven the current Viper in anger, and it's not pretty to say the least.

The Corvette is made of plastic. Jeremy Clarkson told me so. Power to the ground, grab your nuts and hope they don't fall off, snorting horsepower for breakfast because you can't function without it plastic.

Vipers kinda scare me. They have a real widowmaker reputation...and I'm afraid they could get expensive to own, too. They're also more expensive than I'd prefer to go thrashing around a racetrack...

but I have had a boner for one for a long time. So far, I've managed to talk myself out of it.


The other thing about a Viper is that, unless you live in, like Los Angeles or something, you're going to be a little bit of a local celebrity with local law enforcement...and worse than that, in my case, with senior officers at work (squadron commanding officers, base commanding officers, etc). You can't take off like a bat out of hell in your Viper and have lots of plausible deniability like you you can in my 'Vette. I mean, only the trained eye will see the difference between a regular 'Vette and a Z06...and I'll bet there are at least a dozen silver C5 Corvettes just in New Bern where I live, haha (and plenty of people probably would confuse a C5 and a C6). It's not a Ford Taurus, but my Z06 offers some anonymity.

But damn... Do I love every minute in it. The head turning is a bonus for me, although for every girl that even knows what kind of car it even is, there are 100 rednecks that will yell at you randomly

I got in that Z06 cop car and could not believe how much lower to the ground it seemed. The visiblity was terrible too... Still want one though some optional traction control would be nice to have
