^^^ I think Andorid has a lot to offer to. I didn't realize that there were Apple Windows fanboys waging war on phones. Holy shit its like console wars!

Instead of just tell each other how stupid you are for liking one format over the other, provide examples that explains why. The iPhone crowd seems to be doing a good job of this. I really would like to know what benefit Windows Mobile has over iPhone, and the same with Android. Is there anyone that is nonpartial or can provide objective information?

Seriously, I would imagine on a few points that everyone can logically agree.

Web Browsing: Which OS is the is fastest/most reliable/crashes less
GPS: Which OS (or phone) provides the most accurate GPS system/best GPS features

Same can be done about providers. Price per month, Service, etc.

Web browsing is Palm Treo Pro is great. While the new Mobile IE is not great but it works and works well. You can always get Skyfire for free and you can roll with that if you like. GPS depends on device, and I can confirm that Sprint Navigation, and GMaps, and ON POINT, like right on top on my apt point with the GPS. I think Sprint has the cheapest data package with best features.

iphone probably has the best web browser--it's biggest flaw being it doesn't support flash

as far as GPS, the iphone does not do turn by turn yet so that is a downfall there. it's a pretty badass app though through google..has streetview and all that good stuff.

I have heard quite a few negative things about Sprint's phone service and 2 of my co-workers plan on switching to other carriers (one has decided on Verizon, the other to Alltel... which is funny won't they be one in the same shortly?) once their contract ends; mainly things like dropped calls, bad reception, completely missed calls. Yes, it depends on your area (for me, Cary/Morrisville).

I'm currently with Alltel and have little to no complaints about dropped calls and reception. Of course, I don't have a smart phone so I know nothing about their data package.

^^I wasn't aware videos on other platforms weren't already fullscreen by default.

The only application I see for flash is for video sites but a lot of them support mobile platforms now so if you aren't using flash it will load quicktime.

I despise actual web content that is in flash form.

That's weak that iPhone doesn't support flash. Do they have an ETA on that? That's actually pretty surprising to me.

^^it doesn't support it because its bloated and will reduce battery life. Apparently they're working with adobe to make it more light weight.

^thats for youtube, I'm talking other streaming video sites that work via the browser.

They're working on it. There's some articles somewhere in the iphone thread about it. There's an app for youtube videos at least. I haven't noticed it really at all. I just don't use sites regularly that require flash.

For those wondering what I can do with my windows mobile phone that apple cant do here you go - I can use garmin xt while driving and listening to music, streaming radio or video from flash websites, i can use a variety of customizable interfaces, i can send mms, oh and i pay 30$ a month. And thats not even getting in depth, hell you are just getting copy and paste now. To each their own, but me ill stick with my htc winmo phones. And for the record i am not a windows fanboy, i have both a mac and a pc, they serve different purposes.

The only thing you said that you can't do on an iPhone is flash. And even on a mac/pc browser I avoid flash sites unless its a video player. So i'm not missing anything.

and if you feel strongly enough about mucking up your UI...you can jailbreak the iPhone and use any interface/theme you want.

I thought (and I might be wrong) that the iphone couldn't multitask 3rd party apps? I enjoy being able to listen to music while getting directions from Garmin. Oh - can you use an iphone to tether?

I went to the T-Mobile store today to check out the G1. What a bad ass phone that is. Perfect size, perfect weight. Unfortunately they didn't have a "live" one that I could actually try out so it was pretty much a waste of time.

you can listen to music and use the GPS. You can txt while on a call. you can surf the web while on a call etc.

What you can't do is play a game and watch a movie at the same time. So other than music, i don't see what other apps you could multitask in the first place.

yes you can use an iphone to tether. Soon to be through apple instead of 3rd party. But that is still up to your provider to allow the service.

anything else?

Unfortunately none of that trumps the main argument of how much do you pay per month? I'm not denying the iphone is a great phone, it is. But what it also is is an over hyped expensive phone. There are other good if not better phones out here. Personally I hate the iphone mostly due to its UI, its not nearly organized enough for me.

looking at the at&t website, the monthly plan is about the same as I'm paying on the storm with Verizon and is about what you'd expect to be paying for a smartphone. And the UI never really appealed to me either. Looks like something a kid would play with. I love how there's an iphone theme for the storm, omnia and other phones though. Hell, there's even a WM7 theme out now. If I wanted an iphone interface, I would've bought one.

we've had iphones for a couple years now, but my gf just got a blackberry curve.

i'd def take the iphone anyday, especially with 3.0 coming with push, etc. But as it is, she really likes the keyboard and the push/multitasking aspect of the blackberry. ie, she can stay signed into gmail chat all day while making calls and doing other stuff. so thats pretty handy
