Rangers have a good chance of locking this series up in 5 anyway so it may be a moot point.

Hamilton is amazing. I haven't had a chance to watch him play much before the playoffs, but the ball just rockets off his bat and it's like he is not even swinging hard. Sucks that he wasted so many good years because he has the talent to be one of the all time greats. 10/20/2010 8:17:00 AM |

greatest natural hitter to ever have been born. it's a shame really, hopefully he can enjoy what years he has left 10/20/2010 8:23:36 AM |

Back on topic...I told my friend he's the Cris Carter of MLB playoffs...all he does is hit homeruns. I mean damn...that was awesome.10/20/2010 8:31:24 AM |

im 100% serious.
granted, no one's ever needed to, but name me the last person to take 5+ years off and come back and lead the league in hitting and contend for he triple crown?
no im not exaggerating. 10/20/2010 8:35:12 AM |

^ Ted Williams never took 5 years off, but did go off to war twice and still came back as good as ever. Either way being compared to Ted Williams is a huge compliment in itself. Imagine if the Reds had kept Hamilton and teamed him with Votto. What a fucking duo that would have been. 10/20/2010 8:58:23 AM |

^^Its not like he came back and immediately led the league in hitting. It took him a few years.

Never mind the 5 years off. I meanhow many big league games did he play in before the break. Very few if I remember.
All the yanks fans on my fb are all like "yea let's chear for a drug addict". I lol and just shrug it off. He's doing work but clearly ist the only one on the field 10/20/2010 11:34:23 AM |

^^ Yeah well that too, but the Rays gave up on him when he had not yet proven he could still play. The Reds had him for his comeback year, saw that he could still play, and still traded him to the Rangers. Granted they got Volquez in that deal and he is a big part of their team now, but still they gave up on him too soon just like Tampa. 10/20/2010 11:39:57 AM |

Hamilton should just be glad that Jerry Narron ( a NC native) was the manager of the Reds at the time and talked owners and gm into giving him a second chance 10/20/2010 1:09:26 PM |

Late weighing in on this, but Manny Ramirez is the greatest natural hitter I've ever seen. He is/was a hitting savant, and he barely even cares about the game of baseball (or anything in general, it seems like sometimes).10/23/2010 3:57:50 PM |

Jeez... I perused Packpride just a minute ago and the had a Josh Hamilton thread... go figure, it's full of a bunch of fucking morons berating him because he wore a UNC hat once despite the fact it's well documented he would have come here and works out here in the offseason. I swear some of our alumni are the biggest fools on the face of the earth.
