I asked this in August, and I will ask again cuz no one answered:

no one here eats or has tried Halloumi?

Y'all should try it. Heck, a lot of you go to Middle Eastern/Arab restaurants, so I am sure many of you must have tried it.

^^ It is a cheese that doesn't melt (probably the only one?), rather, on a grill or in a pan, it grills to a nice golden brown and becomes crunchy from the outside (if you grill it enough). It is nice sliced thin in sandwiches, and chopped in a salad with tomatoes, avocado, spinach/arugula, fresh mushrooms, and a touch of balsamic vinegar.

does anyone know where to get that mexican white cheese? it comes on tacos but it also is the melting kind for cheese dip and enchiladas and stuff?

i think it is just called like queso blanco or something (per google) but that doesn't really help. do i need to go to a mexican mart? i've never seen it in a "regular" grocery store. or at least i don't think - i've looked in both the nice cheese section by the deli and the regular one.

if i go to a mexican grocery store i guess i could stock up on all kinds of yummies! but i esp want the cheese...whatever it is

Some stores have a special little section in the fridge for ethnic foods. Aldi has it as well.

I am going to start buying more goat cheese. I love it but for some reason I never buy it. I also want to try frying cheese. Sagnaki I think it's called.

Nom. effing. nom.

I got some of this at the farmer's market not too long ago and it was some of the best goat cheese I ever did have.

If you haven't tried this, you really should! The creamy cheese is made from 80 percent goat's milk and 20 percent cow's cream.

You can get it at Harris Teeter.

Mmmmmcheese.

Muenster for my sandwiches
Yellow American for grilled cheese
EXTRA sharp, crumbly provolone with some crusty Italian bread
Extra sharp cheddar
Yellow American cheese sliced so thinly you can see through it for snacking
Brie
Ricotta
Parmesan
Feta
Colby
Mozzarella
Gruyere
Doux de Montagne

Really, I'll try almost anything. I love cheese.

My favorite is a really good sharp cheddar. Preferably from Ashe County Cheese company.

The girl that is snowed in with me (ex girlfriend ) said her favorite is smoked gouda.
